Monday, May 10. I woke up at 6. I debated waking up DH, but value my life and so I let him sleep until 9. With naturally curly hair that I blow dry straight, I wanted the extra time in the bathroom anyway. My eye was even pinker than yesterday, though no longer gooey. The eyeball physically hurt, especially the part that does not show, under the upper lid. It was uncomfortable enough that I couldn't put on any eye makeup. I had been on the drops for 24+ hours, so I was supposedly no longer contagious, but I wiped everything down after I touched it, even after I Purelled my hands multiple times. I was still so excited, a little eye pain (ok, a lot!) was not going to get me down! Especially since I had my trusty sunglasses to hide my ugly eyeball. And the Purell went with us to Disney, and I didn't touch my eye or touch anything without Purelling, so don't worry about my germs going anywhere but to DH.

Breakfast:
DH got a slow start. He really likes laid-back vacations, and I think he was kind of nervous remembering the way I behaved when we went in 1994 (up at 6 am, bouncing on the bed to awaken him, staying til the parks closed, etc. But I was 21 then, I am too old and tired to bounce on beds these days!)

We went to Boardwalk Bakery, where the line was out the door. I grabbed us a table while DH gallantly offered to brave the crowd. I soon realized that he had the better end of the deal, when I was confronted with The Very Aggressive Birds. There is even a sign about these Birds; they are famous. I should probably say notorious. First of all, I love all animals. I even like rats at the pet store. But The Very Aggressive Birds were frightening, too chirpy and way way too comfortable about being on the table near my appendages. I made sure not to give them even a crumb of encouragement, so to speak, and I hoped they would be discouraged from pecking out my eyes by the sickly pink color in one of them. Breakfast review will be lodged on the restaurant board in due time.

After breakfast, we headed to the International Gateway to Epcot. It was our first time walking to Epcot, and our first time in the "back way." WS was not yet open, so we went to the front of the park and rode Spaceship Earth. I love this ride! I think DH thought it was a little boring, but he was a good sport about it. Then we got FP for TT as DH was interested in it, and rode The Land while we were waiting for our FP time. Then it was time for TT, another first. I have to say, I would not wait in line long for this. Being a passenger in my sister's car is equally thrilling, and free to boot. But it was fun, and we were both glad we did it. We took a pass on Mission: Space despite my burning desire to see Gary Sinise because I am notorious for getting carsick and couldn't bear to add motion sickness to pink eye. And DH was not really intrigued enough to want to experience me being motion sick while walking through WDW.

After TT, we headed over to Universe of Energy. I know it's cheesy and long, but I like the dinosaurs. I found out on this trip that DH really can take Epcot or leave it, so he was just along for the ride--open to whatever I wanted to do. How I wish he'd stopped us! First of all, today it wasn't working for me. We were both lulled into sleepiness, until we got on the moving cars. Then...how do I put this...ok, y'all, somebody SMELLED. I can't even describe it to you. It was a sick, uriney, bad-hygiene-having STENCH and I truly thought we would die from it before the ride ended. I hope I don't sound unkind but whoever got on that ride like that was unkind to us, and they were unkind first! Finally the ride ended and we were out in the blessed fresh air. The weather that day was ideal, in the high 70s and low 80s, a little overcast and breezy. It was perfect, and such a relief. You don't know how long a ride is until you are trapped on it with a bad smell.

After a little browsing at Mouse Gear we headed over to WS for lunch, where the first of our first-ever PSs awaited us for lunch. Such was the air quality that we both had appetites again, truly a Disney miracle! We had lunch at Biergarten. We are not much for sitting with strangers at any time, even on vacation, but we just kept to ourselves and our tablemates did the same. I really enjoyed the pretzel bread on the buffet and DH liked the meatballs.

After Biergarten I went into the candy store in Germany and bought a bag of Haribo Blackberries and Raspberries. The reason this is worth mentioning is that earlier in the year my DH had said I could not go a day without candy. Making a statement like this to me is like waving a red flag in front of a bull, which is of course why he said it. Despite the fact that I previously never had gone a day with candy, I was determined to do so. God, it was hard. Kids, don't try this at home. By the end of day two, I was literally on my hands and knees looking under the bed to see if I could find a linty jelly bean. But every day became a new challenge, and people at work would ask me about it. I decided to go without candy until WDW, and I did it. 12 weeks, baby. I celebrated the end of the boycott with my German candy hit and many hits thereafter. (Today I have had a marshmallow Russell Stover bunny, almost a whole bag of those evil berry candies, and 2 Reese's Chocolate PB Eggs. My name is Allie and I am a Candyholic.) I have a picture of me with the fateful bag I will post some other time.

I left my sunglasses on the Norway ride, dammit. They were prescription and more importantly, they were disguising one drunken-looking eyeball. No one turned them in to Norway, and we found out later, anywhere else. I hope they got a rotten case of pink eye.

DH decided he needed a margarita and got an enormous one in Mexico. He tends to dehydrate easily, and with being outside and walking all day, not drinking enough water, and being tired, it went straight to his head. There is nothing more fun than a 6'4" slightly drunk man in Mexico. We headed back through the WS, heading for the hotel. On the way, we got a big pretzel and we sneakily fed some Very Polite, Non-Aggressive Ducks. We then caught a boat and headed back to the Swan for a nap.

After the nap, we caught another boat back to Epcot about 6. Shawn got to experience the famous cinnamon Beavertails I had discovered on the DIS, and we fed some more ducks--one ate from Shawn's hand. Please don't flame me for this, these were cute, Very Polite, Non-Aggressive Ducks, not the scary kind. Please, we know the difference.

We browsed through the China & Japan shops (so many things! so little money!) and then headed over to France where I got a cheese plate and baguette, something I had been longing for since my Disney trip with my sisters the year before, in which one sister hogged her whole cheese plate and wouldn't give me a bite, hardly. We took a bench in France and watched the light fade and felt the air cool. It was the best and prettiest part of the day. It had been a very busy day and we were tired, so we headed out before the fireworks and snagged a nearly empty boat back to our Heavenly Bed. We split the cheese plate in our room and I won't make you wait for the food review--it was awesome! I asked the French chick what kind of cheese it was and I didn't understand a word she said. I asked her to repeat it (oh, she loved that) but I still didn't get it, and neither did DH. I knew one of those cheeses was Swiss, but she sure didn't seem to think so as I should have recognized that word. Oh well. We'll just call it Disney Cheese.

It was a wonderful day. But I really hope whoever kept my sunglasses woke up with a placemat on their eye in 3 days. Sorry old sunglass stealer. I hope The Very Aggressive Birds took your hotdogs! I am still irritated, reliving this. They were SO comfortable. :guilty:

Tomorrow: We open the MK

Great report ~ Thanx for sharing.

:rotfl: Love the report! The picture in your siggy is hilarious! Sorry about the pink eye. The first time we got it in my family my DD (who had tried on sunglasses at the store) got it in both eyes and by the time we made it to the doctor that afternoon I had it too (in one eye). I can't believe you made it the rest of the day without sunglasses, I have a hard time finding a comfortable pair also, but with pinkeye, I found them a necessity.

LOL, don't let my DH see this Easter is my favorite time of year candy wise, and that people is why I work out 5-6 days per week lol so I can have my personal fix! Reese's eggs, malted milk eggs, marshmallow bunnies YUMMY! Now that I have two little girls at home with the same addiction I have to share, so I just buy extra

Can't wait to read more!

I am so glad to hear someone else out there has the same problem. At least maybe you can blame it on the kids when all the candy is gone!

OK, I'm ready to come out as well. My name is Ally and I am a BakedCheetosaholic.

Seriously, that stuff is one step away from being added to the Schedule 1 drug list.

I can't thank you enough for bringing me to tears (no I don't have pink eye) with your great report! I'm a children's librarian, and even with the nifty purell belt I designed, I still get pinkeye waaay too often. I'm glad you and your DH still managed to have what sounds like an incredibly memerable anniversary trip!
Thanks for sharing! :earboy2:

I would absolutely freak out! I am a little scared of birds and squirrels to start with, so aggressive birds would absolutely terrify me. I'm so glad to have read this in your report... I will definitely be sending DH to get morning treats!
