I was informed at 5:35 today that my Dad was dead--a friend and a policeman came to my office.

We live in a small town, he on one side and me on the other about 6-8 miles away. He lives in a small studio apartment, but spends 6-7 hours a day at my little house in the country working in the yard and on the computer. On his way to my house, usually around 9:00, he always stops at the local grocery store and has his morning coffee and reads the paper.

Well, I guess he did that today, except when he got into his car he must have had a heart attack. Just leaned over on the sterring wheel and died. No one noticed for 4-5 hours. Finally around 2:30-3:00 a woman noticed that he was in the same position when she came out of the store as when she went in---she told the store manager who called 911. A friend came to the store around 4:00, noticed what was going and realized who he was and that she knew his daughter, me, and got to basically identify the body. She stayed there with him until the coroner came at 4:55 and then came with the policeman to notify me.

I can't believe that noe one noticed for all those hours. However, my 17 year-old niece asked her mother what she would have done if she had seen a similar situtation, and my sister-in-law wasn;t sure. I guess neither am I. We are so paranoid about privacy and not interfering that sometimes I think it gets in out way of being concerned.

I will miss him very much as he was my only relative in town. My two brothers and sister live out of state and my daughter is two hours away.

It's 1:00 in the morning here and I can't sleep for crying. Thanks for listening and so that it is so long---just needed to let it all out.

Thanks:wave2:

Oh, I'm so sorry. I can tell how much you miss him.

I am sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers will be with you.

I am so sorry for your loss. My mother died of a heart attack too -- she went very quickly and peacefully in her home. I often wonder who might have found her if I had not gone over to visit that day. My younger sister and brother were still living at home but were at school - I always feel so fortunate that I was the one who found her not only to save their young hearts but because she looked so peaceful, like she died a happy person.

I know its so hard for you, but it sounds like your Dad died doing what he liked doing, or going about his routine. May you find comfort in that, over time. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

I'm so sorry for your sudden loss. My sincere condolences.

Im sorry {{hugs}}

My dad died in his sleep almost 10yrs ago from a heart attack. At times it still hurts.

I am so sorry to hear about your sudden loss. Just know in comfort that your dad went peacfully and is now looking down upon you and is your angel.

I'm so sorry you lost your Father. My prayers are with you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Sudden deaths like that are so hard on the survivors, but I always think how easy they are on your loved one. I have lost both a mother and grandmother to cancer, and a heart attack would be so much easier on them than what they went through. Prayers for you and your familiy.

Sorry to hear about your dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Oh, honey, I'm so sorry....

I lost my dear father last year this month. Sometimes I wonder how I'm still walking! I do know why, though, through the Grace of God.

Believe me, parents never truly leave us. They are with us as our guardian angels forEVER. You will always have him with you.

God bless,

Robinrs

I'm so sorry. :(

I can't help but think that he looked so peaceful that no one wanted to disturb him, thinking he was sleeping.

So sorry to hear that, Cindy, my good thoughts are with you. As said earlier, your dad passed doing his fun stuff, doing 'his day'. I think that is a good thing to recall in the days and time ahead. He enjoyed life.

's for you.

Dan
