Has anyone received any invitations for the new DVC Sales Center that is supposed to open in Long Island the beginning of August?

I think I've talked my DH into adding on at BLT:cool1:

TIA!

Massapequa Park here. Its news to me. Post any info that you receive.

wondering what kind of deal we can get from such a DVC store?

anyone from chicago tell us if there were any additional deal beyond what one would get in florida?

am leaning resale... but if its a good deal, I may go direct to disney.

I heard that it was going to open on August 1st, but haven't seen any announcements that confirm it. I'd love to hear details about the grand opening.

Yes, there was a thread last month that said Aug. 1--has anyone else heard? We're not really thinking of an add-on but would love to take a look at the models. Also, threads about the opening of Doorway to Dreams in the Chicago area said that there was a party with goody bags, pins etc.

Anyone here been to Roosevelt Field lately? DH and kids were there last week but I forgot to ask them to look.

I haven't received any info/emails recently.....the last ones i got were about applying for a job there...unfortunately didn't have the experience they were looking for...i'm an accountant..;)......i hope they send out emails when it opens:goodvibes

My guide told me she would send me an invitation. I have not heard anything yet. Maybe I will contact her to see what's up.

With only 2 days until August 1st, I guess the Roosevelt Field center isn't opening on Saturday. If anyone hears differently, please let us know!

There is an older post here somewhere stating that the DVC store isn't opening till Sept 1st. I guess it's safe to say this is true since none of us have recieved any invites.

I hope to take myself and the kids to the opening. I am in NJ so it's about an hour for me but I am sure it will be worth the trip there.

I haven't received anything either and I'm sure they'd hit the tri-state area with invites.

I called my guide and he told me they expect to open the Doorway to Dreams store at Roosevelt Field in late August but couldn't give me a specific date.

They announced at the special "opening" event on Long Island this weekend that the Doorway to Dreams store official opening is on Oct 17. They also presented the CMs for the store, around 15-20 of them.

The Opening of Doorway to Dreams is next week, September 17. :cheer2:
It is located on the second level in the Nordstrom's 'wing'. Actually right near the Nordstrom's entrance in the mall on the second floor. The 'official' grand opening is Saturday, October 17. :thumbsup2
This is the second Doorway to Dreams site. The first is outside Chicago.

Did anyone attend the special presentations 2 weeks ago at The garden City hotel? It was great.

I went to the DTD event and decided to purchase into BLT. My kids had a blast dancing with Mickey And Minnie. I think they mentioned that the Grand Opening was going to be in October. :cheer2:

I know the official opening is Oct. 17th but I also heard at the DtoD event that is was going to open unofficially mid-Sept. Does anyone know the exact date?

I LOVE our DTD store in Chicago, and hope the Long Island one is just as good or better (most of my family lives on LI and I grew up in North Babylon).

Our DTD store in an upscale regional suburban mall (it is not in downtown Chicago) has twice-yearly events with giveaways, food, characters, etc. We were one of the grand prize winners of a 5 day all expense paid trip to WDW worth $10K won at a DTD event drawing in the summer of 08 (and we had never won ANYTHING before) so we never miss an event if we can help it! The events are mostly to sell more points to existing members and entice new members to buy (our DTD does separate events for existing and prospective DVC members) but they are still fun, low pressure, and serve as wonderful Disney and DVC "fixes." And it's fun to go in the model, even if you've been twenty times. There's always good branded stuff given out, from passport covers to luggage tags to leather-look portfolios, DVC logo binoculars (plastic, but cute) and other stuff like that. Plus pictures with characters. It's a great deal...hope they repeat it at Roosevelt Field.

I cant wait for ours to open. I'm surprised the soft opening day is on a Thursday.....I think I will wait until Friday to visit.

I am also excited and plan to attend the official opening also.
