My wife and I have a 12 hour drive before A full day in the park. Do they frown upon taking a short nap in your vehicle before check in is allowed?

You mean you're driving through the night then spending a full day in the parks?

Do you mean hotel check in?? If possible, ask about early check in and see if you can nap in your room. We've been lucky and gotten to our room a few hours earlier than check in (3pm) and were able to drop our stuff. If you are gonna show up first thing in the morning, nap in your car then hit the park.....you are a brave person. My only concern would be safety. I find disney safe but I am not all for napping in my car.

You can check in to the resort as early as 6 AM. It is unlikely that a room will be ready that early but you certainly can checkin and ask of there is one

I would say Yes it would be frowned upon!! If a Cast Member sees you sleeping they would knock on the window to make sure you are ok. if that doesn't happen then a guest would see you and report you to a Cast Member who would then knock on your window. Chances are you won't get the nap you wanted. Also a good chance the Excitement of the parks would keep you awake.

You'll have to nap at Wal-Mart, or check in and go to the pool and grab some lounge chairs.

You won't be able to stand it. Think little kids dying in hot cars. It wouldn't take 30 minutes to drive you out of that car, sweaty and miserable.

When we have traveled through the night, we usually stop at a rest area, normally the welcome center for the state, and sleep for a few hours. I know I have taken quite a few naps at the FL Welcome Center before heading on into our vacation.

I would do online check-in, noting the time you plan to arrive and request earliest available over any other requests. I would find it hot and uncomfortable in the car after a 12-hour drive. If a room isn't ready when you arrive, we've rested by a quiet pool before. I honestly don't know that WDW has any hard-and-fast rule against napping in your car in a resort parking lot, but you are more likely to be disturbed - either intentionally or simply by other guests going to their cards in the morning.

Enjoy your vacation!

We have driven through the night and hit the parks first thing on many of our trips. However, my drive is only 7 hours. I'll take a very long nap the afternoon before. I don't usually crash until 6 or 7pm on the first day. Taking a nap in the resort hotel parking lot is much safer than at a rest area. Florida used to have a state trooper at rest areas over night for security. I don't know if they still do though. Some rest areas get very shady at night.

You might get lucky & get your room when you arrive. I like the idea of leaving your stuff with bell services and finding a spot by the pool (just be sure you don't doze off in direct sunlight) Sleeping in the car sounds pretty awful considering the heat and possible interruptions.

Doesn't seem like anybody in this thread has heard of any rules that say you can't so it seems like you can. I would think the heat would make it miserable, I wouldn't be able to get any good rest in it and I can sleep through almost anything.

Are you going to switch off on the driving? One of you sleep for half the time and then wake the other to drive the rest of the way?

It sounds to me like youd be arriving around 530 am, and since nothing ever goes as smooth as you think, like an extra bathroom stop,, etc , you probably aren't arriving till more like 6 am. I see nothing wrong with nodding off until check in. However, someone said you may be able to check in as early as 6am. Especially if you aren't making a lot of room requests. Even if someone knocks on your window, you just say the truth, you just arrived and are waiting for check in. Once check in is open, if your room is not ready and you want to snooze a little in the car, I doubt anyone will care once people start bussling about.
Most likely your room wont be ready, but you''ll at least know what section it is in and can go park in that area.
I doubt people will think a whole family is dead in their car, and I'm sure people will be able to tell you all are sleeping, lol. Probably someone in the car will be antsy and not sleeping anyway.
This is not really a big deal.

or, you could book the room the night before and get a real bed!

But I agree, it would be bad for your health as you might have heat stroke in a closed car.....

pool loungers seem more comfortable!

And there you have it, check in, and go nap in the pool lounger if room not ready. If it's not quite check in time, stop close by for a quick breakfast to kill a half an hour!

We take red-eye flights from Cali, and have gotten lucky quite a few times that we were able to get a room as early as 7am as long as we aren't picky about where it is, so definitely check with the front desk. I have also slept on the pool loungers before, the last time was January and I woke up to steady showers all around me, but my little pool umbrella was keeping me in a nice little island of dry!

Park the car, check in, down a five hour energy drink, go to park. Come back and nap when room is ready, go to park after nap.
