we rent a car from priceline but wanted to know what others do give me some other ideas and how much it costs?

We flew into LB in May and took a taxi to our hotel. It as $40.00 to the hotel and $55.00 back to the airport.

Super Shuttle!

Last time it was just me; this time there will be 7 or 9 of us, so I'm going to rent the whole van.

Ive been debating this and dh and I actually discussed it tonight. There are 2 adults, and 3 kids. We originally made reservations for the Disney Express, however after careful consideration....he seems to think it would be okay to take a taxi.????? Are there taxis big enough to hold all of us and our luggage? I feel a little uneasy about not having it "planned" out and just hoping there is a taxi available that could transport us and all of our junk.

The Disneyland Resort Express bus doesn't run to Long Beach. Only to LAX and SNA. So your options are a shuttle or private car or van service, or a taxi. There are supposed to be "taxi vans" but I'm not sure of their availability at LGB. I would call the airport and ask.

Super shuttle from LGB costs $35 for the first person, then $9 for each additional person over the age of 3. So if your kids are all over 3, that would cost $71. However, there's a coupon here: http://www.anaheimoc.org/Articles/Archive/Webpage10153.asp
for $2.00 off per person, each way, when you book with Super Shuttle online. (it's the very last coupon at the bottom). That would bring it down to $61, plus tip.

Edit: I just saw that your youngest is 20 months, so that would be just a charge for 4 people, so with the coupon discount it would be $54 plus tip.

If you can get a taxi van for the $40 flat rate, that would be a better deal.

lol....I wasnt paying complete attention when I read the title. (I think im just a little sleepy at the moment) It didnt click that the op was asking about Long beach....we are actually flying into John Wayne.

I need to go to bed now.:)

Thank you for the useful information....much appreciated!!!!!!!

Ohhh, from SNA take super shuttle! It's much cheaper. It's $10 per person, plus you can still use that coupon discount. So it would cost your group $32 each way. If you add on an 18% tip (which you can do when you book) it still comes in under $40, which is what the cab would cost you even without a tip.

How long does it take to get a taxi at Long Beach? I'm from NY and they are usually lined up waiting for people but there can be a long line. I'm debating between a cab and the super shuttle. There are 3 or us so a cab would actually be cheaper, plus no stops.

It just seems like by the time you do a taxi or shuttle your into it about 100 bucks and for 25 bucks more you can have a rent a car and go where you want.

2 things about renting a car on vacation:

#1 I have to drive everyday for work

#2 DH and I do not navigate well together in unfamiliar territory, lol!

And on this DL trip we'll have so many teens with us I'd need to rent a bus.:rotfl:

It depends on how big your party is. 4 people, sure. We'll have 6, with 2 in carseats. We'd have to rent a mini van which the cheapest I can find for our dates will run us over $250. It's over $100 less to shuttle.

The two times we flew (now we drive) into the Long Beach airport we had a town car waiting for us. My dad was the one who paid, so I don't know the price but it was expensive. We weren't too happy with their service though. They were always late picking us up from the hotel for our flight back home. :furious:
