Long Beach airport for Disneyland?

Soon after listening to Pete's airfare segment, I found out that I have to go to Anaheim for a conference in April. I am staying at the Anaheim Marroitt which I am told is across the street from Disneyland.

I have been comparing flights and it appears that flying into Long Beach is around $100 cheaper than flying into Santa Ana. Anyone have any experience flying into Long Beach?

My plan is to fly in 2 days early to spend in the parks. It will be my first time in Disneyland! Whoopee!

Thanks!
Jason

Santa Ana is the closest and the best option to fly into, but Long Beach isn't bad- if they are paying for a rental car for you, then it would probably be fine, but if you need to use a shuttle, it will be a lot more $ from Long Beach than Santa Ana. Hopefully the Marriot is the Fairfield Marriot, (that is the one across the street on Harbor Blvd.) the other Marriots are farther away.

You will have a great time- lucky you! Have fun. :yay:

Thanks! I'll be taking a taxi or shuttle so maybe Santa Ana is the best. The hotel is this one. Seems like the same one, but maybe they changed the name:

Also, this will be first time going to the parks solo. Not that I don't love my wife and daughter, but I'm super excited about being able to go at my own pace (which is kinda commando style...but not "that" commando style).

Actually this Marriot is one of the farther away ones. It is back behind California Adventure. I am not sure if they have a shuttle, but you might want to check or ask where the closest ART (Anaheim Resort Transit) shuttle stop is to take to the parks. It only costs a couple dollars per day and will save you some walking. You could walk there- depends on how much you enjoy walking it would probably be about 25 minutes walking is my guess. There is a Marriot directly across the street (the one I mentioned above). But this is a nice hotel (nicer than the ones on S. Harbor blvd.) and ART runs all day.

You will have a blast either way and you'll probably get to see a lot since you'll be moving quickly with it being just you. I need to find a job that has conventions near Disneyland!

I have flown into Long Beach twice. Once we rented a car, but once we used Super Shuttle. Both options worked out well.

Long Beach airport is about 19 miles from Disneyland.

Enjoy your solo trip. :)

I just flew into Long Beach for the first time in April. Prior to that, I've flown into SNA, which I like better. Long Beach is so small, I expected to see the cast of "Wings" working there. ;)

I had been given the impression from SuperShuttle's website that you have to pre-arrange SuperShuttle to pick up at Long Beach, but there did seem to be a shuttle stand. I know that SNA has a dedicated shuttle loading area that doesn't require advance reservations.

This is all great information. Thanks so much for the help. I will probably end up flying into SNA.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Check mousesavers.com for shuttle coupons. They usually have a few. Have fun.

good choice, its closer to where you want to be :thumbsup2 LB may be 19 mil from Anahiem, but if there's heavy traffic, OY!

Have a great trip, but don't forget a souvie for your wife and or kids.

Thanks. Yes, I hope to find something unique to Disneyland. When we are at WDW, my wife always gets a sweatshirt (because where we live it's "At World's End" cold) and my daughter likes to get a plush character.

I would love to find something either themed with Mr. Toad or Finding Nemo's Submarine Voyage.

I prefer Long Beach to SNA. At Long Beach, you collect your bag outside on one side of the street and the rental cars are parked on the other side. It's a lot quicker to go through security, too. If you are not renting a car, their taxis have a flat rate to get you to the Disney Hotels (Marriott behind CA Adv would be included). When I did it a year ago, the rate was $41 (It's a better deal if there are two of you).

Something else to consider is to rent a car at the airport and drop it off at a local agency right by Disneyland. It's not uncommon to find rates around $20/day. After you drop it off by Disneyland, the rental agency will give you a ride back to your hotel. When you are ready to go back to the airport, you can be picked up and rent a new vehicle for the drive back to the airport. This can save quite a bit of money by not paying for a rented vehicle to sit at the hotel while you don't drive it.

I hope this helps!
