...... and here's what I've planned (but I'll be the first to shout hooray if it actually pans out that way!)

To make this post a little more understandable, you should know something about us - we've (me and DH then DD who's now 11)been going to Florida (Orlando, Gulf Coast & Disney Cruise) 1/2/3 times a year for the past 15 years but only thanks to DH being an airline employee. We've NEVER used a package deal. 2 years ago we took DB and family and got them hooked so all six of us are going back again in two weeks!

I post my planner in the hope that it might give some of you inspiration and courage to "go it alone" - it's really not scary after the first time! Happy to give any advice I can.

Heathrow to Miami
Pick up hire car Sheraton Four Points Miami Beach
Check out South Beach

Saturday
Drive Miami to Orlando
Stop at Cracker Barrel for Breakfast en route
(we’ll have what you’re having – no grits please!)
Check out villa
Go to store and buy lots of food and beer
Unpack and swim in our own pool
Get drunk on Pat’s Black Label cocktails on the lanai

Sunday
Sea World
(The White Knuckle Challenge begins!)
Cocktails on the lanai

Monday
Chill at villa and a bit of shopping
(Can we sit on the pavement to change our shoes?)
Maybe “olde tyme” picture? (Nicole’s idea)

Tuesday
Universal Studios
(No white knuckle but Diane issues an open challenge for highest score on Men in Black!)
Jimmy Buffet’s Marguerittaville for cocktails and chicken wings

Wednesday
Magic Kingdom
(Can Goofy get away unscathed, will Capt Hook hit Toni again and can Grant get through a parade without crying?)
Dinner with Cinderella at the Grand Floridian Hotel

Thursday
Nicole’s friend Rachel comes to stay from Texas
Pick Rachel up from airport am and chill at villa
Maybe a little miniature golf?
Possibly goldfish bowl cocktails at TGI Fridays with dinner

Friday
Islands of Adventure (Universal)
Now the white knuckle challenge really kicks off!
Hulk Coaster, Duelling Dragons Coaster, Dr Dooms Fearfall, Bilgebarges, Ripsaw Falls, Jurassic Park Ride.
But lots for the less fearless too!
More Margheritas and stuff at City Walk
Cocktails on the lanai

Saturday
Water Park? Wet’n’Wild or Blizzard Beach
Spend all day in cozzie – can’t be bad!
Swimming, rides, lazy river. Also white knuckle points opportunities!

Sunday
Rachel goes home
Take Rachel to airport early am
Time for shopping, swimming and cocktails by the pool

Monday
Another rest day – all u can eat breakfast, shopping, swimming, eating, drinking

A few white knuckle opportunities here
Must have lunch/dinner at Rainforest Café

Dedicated to shopping!
Downdown Disney for me!

Last chance for the white knuckle challenge!
Lots to explore – not been for at least 3 years
Hope Pat doesn’t get lost taking us back to Orlando like he did last time!

We don't book packages either as they don't suit our plans. Your trip sounds wonderful - I think it's time for a celebratory cocktail ;) !

Your plans sounds terrific - but why aren't you going to be using the pool your last morning?
