London hotels - Any suggestions

I am so sorry if this question is asked on this board all the time. I searched and did not find anything on the 1st 2 pages.
My family is thinking about going to London next Summer. We are flexible on either late May, June, July, or early-to-mid Aug.
I have tried and tried to find out about hotels. We want a central location for touristy stuff. Want to spend a couple hundred a night (around130 pounds). To compare, looking for a moderate Disney hotel like - I could also do All Stars level.

Anyone have suggestions?

I was going to suggest the Holiday Inn at Victoria but have just found out it is now the Hesperia!!

We're staying in a Novotel hotel in October (near House of Parliament) paying £100 per night for two adults, children go free.

Just last week relatives of ours stayed at Club Quarters right near St Pauls. It is actually used more by business people and usually requires company membership, but as they were not on company business, and staying there for a weekend in London, they found it was available on Expedia.
They thoroughly recommended it and as well as being in a great position for sightseeing, it was clean, comfortable and very roomy, even with a kitchenette with microwave, fridge etc. and they paid a reasonable (for London) price of £104 per night for a family room.

They do accept bookings rather than have the rooms empty.

People often recommend the Premier Travel Inn at County Hall for the great location and for being a good no frills hotel - check the site out here :-

That's interesting. Hotels have been mentioned I have not seen on any of the "normal" hotel sites. I will have to look into them.

Couple of ideas for you.

The Dukes is a small boutique hotel (owned by a couple of Texans I believe)(or at least it used to be). Sometimes they have deals.

When I go, I usually stay at the Holiday Inn Kings Cross (the one at 1 Kings Cross Road) It has US sized rooms. In fact, close your eyes, open them in the room, you would think it is a US hotel room. 2 doubles, fridge, tv, table, chairs.

It is a bit away from the touristy stuff, though, although it is closer to the City then the West End.

In the West End, near the palace, etc. try Crowne Plaza St. James, Buckingham Gate (just go to the ichotels.com site). It is nice, and depending on the time of year, you should be able to get near 130 pounds.

I have tried the HI express' and was not impressed. I have stayed at some others as well, but, now gravitate to the HI simply because of the feeling of the states that comes with them.

When there, be sure to eat at The Texas Embassy Cantina, stop by Berry Brothers Wine, in St. James - the old site of the Texas Embassy, eat at the Hard Rock, see the Palace, etc. Be sure to see the War Bunkers, where Churchill ran WWII from, and many many more .....

One word of advice..... Don't go on price alone. anything around 100 pounds may not be the quality you are looking for. 100 pounds and below is likely on the same level as a lower end motel over here. I would say probably not even all stars.

I stayed here in 1996 and yes it is like being in a US hotel bedroom 2 double beds etc, also have a lovely swimming pool area. One word of warning though this hotel is in the 'red light' district.

Hi, we've recently stayed at the Radisson Pastoria which is almost right in Leicester Square (within 20 feet!) and we thoroughly enjoyed its very central location. Last weekend we went cheaper than Radisson and went to a Best Western Hotel called The Delmere which was a two minute walk from Paddington Station. Both of them were excellent, with really friendly helpful staff, immaculately clean and with all the usual hotel room facilities. We enjoyed them both and have said that we would go again to either of them.
