"I want to go to London Town and see the British shops!!"

(For those who didn't recognize it, that's a line by Bluebottle in an old "Goon Show," which dates me, I guess.)

In any event, my wife and I are coming to London on 23 August.

Since the once mighty (not to mention almighty) dollar has been laid low of late, we are looking for a modestly priced B&B within striking distance of Central London (close enough in to allow us to get back on the Tube after the theatre). Any suggestions?

I'm sure someone else can help you with more specific recommendations but as you've not had a reply yet I thought I'd start the ball rolling with

www.thomascookpromotions.com/superbreaks

Have a look at the London entries. If you don't mind abit of travelling you may geta better deal in South or North London.

Just beware that English hotels give you a price for each person not for the room.

Hi

You might want to look at www.travelodge.co.uk or www.travelinn.co.uk

They are a nationwide chain that does very affordable B&B. You pay for the room which in London will be between £55 - £82 per night. They have sites all over the London area & can be booked online

Hope that helps

Peter

I'm sorry I can't really help with this .. how long are you coming over for?

....... I was looking for earlier threads on this Kelly, the search is not working right now but there is a post by neo's white rabbit on the following thread with some links and I would suggest checking out Priceline too as you can sometimes get great rates for good hotels.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like we'll be there about 6 nights.

I have been poking about on the Internet and found some self-catering flats in Bayswater that seem economical.

Now my wife is talking about renting a car and doing Cornwall! So who knows where we'll wind up.

There are some very aggressive deals on expedia and priceline at the moment, I would check out their websites to see what you can get. I wouldn't book direct or through a regular TA as the hotels are hurting right now and cutting their prices through other companies.

Hi Kelly!

Nice to see you you over here.

Now my wife is talking about renting a car and doing Cornwall!

Remember - that trip alone can take at least 6 hours driving from London.
