Logistics Problems in Copenhagen Today

Almost no taxis available, due to end of Ramadan (we were told this by both Disney personnel at the cruise terminal and by employees at Tivoli Hotel).

Combined with drenching rain, this made for very difficult travel from cruise terminal into town and one hour plus waits for people taking taxis from the hotel to th cruise terminal.

Eid can be a flexible date at the end of Ramadan and a one off event effecting today, and not other cruises. Maybe DCL should have checked and undertaken some research, but for one cruise difficult to add to any marketing.

Europe has been having heavy rain as the jet stream has been directly over us. Hence Wimbledon tennis grand slam had to continue on the middle rest Sunday.

We found taxis difficult to get in Copenhagen even without a holiday. And the drenching rain isn't rare. This is why we ALWAYS pre-book transportation, tours, etc. prior to a cruise, even if it's just a taxi. Especially when you only have one day to enjoy a port. I don't like leaving things to chance.

There is an excellent bus line from the cruise terminal into town. Worked very well for us. Might be worth it to investigate as a back up if taxi problems repeat.

This is what we did instead of waiting for a taxi or paying Disney the ridiculous transfer price. Walk 300m from the cruise terminal to a yellow bus stop opposite the UNICEF building. There is a little hut where you can buy a ticket to Osterport Station( 48 DKR for 2 adults, 2 children). Jump on the 25 or 27 bus to Osterport. It's a 10 min journey , if that. You get dropped off at the side of the station. Once off the bus, walk straight ahead and take the first right to the main entrance. In the station buy a ticket from a self service machine to the airport (72 DKR). Trains leave every 20 mins to the airport from track 4 and go direct. Around a half hour journey and you're there. If you want to go to the city centre, it's just 2 stops along from Osterport. Had we went with Disney transfers we would have paid $160 for 4. Instead we paid $16. It's a no brainier and the public transport system is really easy to navigate in Copenhagen. By the way, if you're travelling to the port this way works too. Be aware that the airport in Copenhagen is the main hub for flying in Scandanavia and is really busy. Leave yourself plenty time to check in and go through security. Queues were crazy yesterday.

Unfortunately, this seems to be the norm in Copenhagen. We just returned from the last Iceland & Norway cruise where taxi waits were an hour or more. Last summer we did the Baltic cruise ending in Copenhagen and the waits were just as bad.

No problem. They expect people to have luggage. You might have to squeeze it between seats or so and if you have like three large pieces each then it might be a problem. But we did exactly the same route as the previous poster and everyone has luggage on that bus and the train is fine, too.

This is really useful information thank you. We are on the Baltic next May but I already planning! I have been to Copenhagen before and relied solely on public transport so good to know there is an easy route to and from the port

We visited friends in Copenhagen a few years ago, and found it very easy to get around on the bus.
