We are headed to DL late April. Our group consists of my parents, my wife and I and our six kids ages 13, 12, 8, 5, 3, 3. As you can imagine, we are on a budget. I am looking for recomendations for economical lodging? Please help.

Economical lodging is a very subjective term!:) I will recommend a few places.
The fomllowing places are not cheap but not expensive and are located next to Disneyland so easy to walk to and from. Howard Johnson, Park Inn, Best Western Park Place Inn, Desert Inn and Suites, Castle Inn and Suites, The Candy Cane Inn. The Portofino Inn and Suites has rooms with bunkbeds.
The Anaheim Plaza is in a good location. I thought it was barely okay but others have said it was fine. It is older but close to the parks and sometimes inexpensive. A bit farther away are some older motels that people said were fine to sleep in. The main one is Super 8 on Katella. I have stayed at many Super 8's and found them to be fine. I have not done this one but others have recommended it. The Islander Inn and Suites gets okay reviews.
The Parkside Inn is definately older and extremely plain. I have never recommended it but there are a few on another message board who said it is clean and comfortable with no frills at all. The Super 8 on Disneyland Drive gets okay reviews as well.

Another place to look at is the Best Western Raffles Inn & Suites. They have a family suite that gives you one or two queens (I forget), a queen pull-out sofa, and bunk beds (sleeps 8). This hotel is pretty reasonable as far as cost, and I've seen the rooms, and they were nice when I visited last April.

I think they also have a small refrigerator in the rooms, and they MIGHT have microwaves, but that would be something I have to verify. They also offer a simple continental breakfast, which would cut down on meals at the parks.

The hotel/motel is next to the Radisson Maingate, and next to a big strawberry field - they sell fresh fruit there beginning in spring.

I would recommend getting the ART shuttle pass, which is $9 per adult (10+) and smaller kids are free for the duration of your stay.

If you go to one of the top threads there is a link there that shows pics of Raffles.
