My DD Sarah, who will be 18 in 2 weeks, decided she needed a new look for the summer and college. She and her friend Brittoni decided to donate to Locks of Love.

Sarah was able to donate 17 inches of red hair and Brittoni donated 13 inches.

That is wonderful that they both did that!!! What a wonderful cause! And her new style looks so great on Sarah... and Brittoni too :)

That's great!!!!

I had no idea her hair was so long. I just showed the pictured to my DD who also has very long hair and she said that maybe she'll be ready to cut it when she's going to college. She's 9 now!

Congratulations Sarah and Brittoni, that was a wonderful thing to do!

Hooray for them! What a wonderful thing for Sarah and her friend to do.

The girls look great! As will the children who benefit from their generous gift!

What made her decide to do this?
She is going to be a counselor at a summer camp this summer and that hair was too much to take care of. She knew she wanted have shorter hair for college too. Once she heard of Locks of Love, she wanted to donate the hair.

how great. I have about 11in that i am gping to cut as soon as I get the nerve for Locks of Love. I have everything I need to donate my hair and just to chicken to do it.

Wow! They are beautiful -- inside and out!

They both look wonderful! I think it's such a worthy cause! My DD donated 12 inches this past winter at age 4!!!!!!!! While she had no clue where her hair went, she has a certificate that I will give to her when she gets older! Her hair was past the bottom of her bum!

Thanks for sharing such a nice story with us!!!

Love it! :) They both have gorgeous hair, both long AND short! :) Good for them for supporting such a good cause. :)

That's wonderful! I think their new looks are great too.:D

I Love to hear of kids at this age being thoughtful! Good for them I bet they will never forget this... By the way, they look fantastic!

Way To Go Girls!

The girls look great! Thanks so much for including the link for Locks of Love as my DD has been growing her hair just for this reason but we weren't sure what to do next. She's got the most beautiful auburn hair that is so thick I know it would make more than one wig. She'll be helping a very worthy cause and I won't have to chase her around the house trying to get all the tangles out of the hair underneath!!!

What a great thing to do - and the new styles look great on them !:D

I have found that this type of donation is contagious. I do it on a routine basis. The first time I did it, one of my students in Tae Kwon Do went to her mother and asked to do it too (she was about 8 at the time). I have another student who is working on the last 2 inches and she is also going to donate. She's only 7. I think for those girls, the fact that their hair will probably go to another little girl who's sick really brings it near to their hearts.

It isn't always an easy thing to do. I know I donated 12 inches a few months ago. But it is TOTALLY worth it.

Congratulations to your daughter and her friend. You must be very proud of them. :)
