Lockers at the rides/tell me all about them, please!

Hi, me ,husband and 17yr old son will be going to both parks on August 9th and 10th. We will be staying at RPH for two nights too . My question is we have never had to use any of the lockers in our previous trips there as we always had my mom with us and she always held our "stuff" for us as she didnt really ride much. We arent planning for her to go with us this year. So, please tell all what you know about the lockers such as cost to use/time limits/ sizes.... etc. Thank so much !!

There pretty easy to use, free for up to the first hour and 15 minutes ( I know its for at least that amount of time. Might be a little longer) and located somewhere near the attraction entrances. Basically you walk up to the kiosk, and on the screen it will tell you either x available, or no availability. If there is no availability, there are several others near it. Usually at least 3 more touch screen kiosks. Once you find one that has availability, you select a language, then place a finger on the screen for an id scan.(your finger print is the way that the touch screens ids the person that is borrowing the locker. Only that person can reopen the locker, unless you get the attendant to help. At some point it will also tell you the rental times, and fees) It will then give you a locker number which is within about 10 feet from where your standing on the same side,(on either your left or right) and once you place everything in the locker, close the locker door, and press the green button next to the door and your done.

yes they are.
i have used them before and had no worries about them.


if your time goes past the free alloted period due to the wait in line, go to the TM and they will open it for you at no additional charge.

the TM's working the locker sections are aware when there are longer waits involved for the ride.

if a ride breaks down and you wait an additional time period in that line, don't fret.
the Tm would be notified of additional time needed for the free lockers.

Are they very safe and secure ?

Extremely. The Required Lockers (Hulk, Mummy, MIB, Rockit, Dragons, Forbidden Journey) use a fingerprint scan, and are free while you ride.
Go to a computer station, touch the screen, and follow the onscreen instructions. After you scan your finger, the computer assigns you a locker. Put your stuff in, then close the locker and press the green button to lock. They do lock automatically if you forget to press the green button. Most people do the "tug check" to make sure their locker is locked.
When you return, go to the same computer station, type in your locker number, then scan your same finger. Follow the on screen instructions and it will unlock for you. Locker are one-time use, so if you have to go back to the lockers for any reason, don't open your rented locker. Get a new one, since they're free and all!

At the Optional Lockers (Ripsaw Falls, Jurassic Park, Popeye), it's a fee--$4 for 90 mins. These lockers will ask you to pay first, then make up a six digit code (most people use their birthday). If you go over the 90 min time, the locker will stay closed. It will simply ask for more $. If you accidentally leave your $ in the locker and go over the time, simply ask the TM near the entrance to the ride and they will call for locker assistance.

They're really easy to use. We've only used the free ones, but never had a problem. Don't worry at all about them, you'll get the hang of them easily.

Tip--I like to have a pen and note pad with me to write down the number of the locker. If you use them multiple times during the day, its easy to forget which locker number you had this time.

They are easy to use, but you leave the line to use them and the locker room is wall to wall people. You must use the same kiosk to open your locker that you used initially. I was able to fit a pretty full backpack and two umbrellas. The lockers are pretty deep. I was unable to open my locker after the ride and I upset people waiting to get a locker by trying several times to open my locker. I needed to have someone open it for me. They did require that I show my ID.

If you have problems opening it when you're done, just get the locker attendant over there ASAP. They'll make sure the locker is yours (I had my ID in my lanyard, so had to describe the contents of the items in the locker, and I showed her a picture of my son from that day on my camera in the locker).

Also, just go to the lockers first. No need to leave the line, just visit before getting into the line!

I had read on this forum to go to the lockers first, but when I asked where they were I was told they were up ahead on the line. Most of the people were leaving the line to get to the lockers. I must have missed a different entrance for the lockers or was directed away from it. This was only the case when we had a longer wait time and we were directed to the right of the entrance. Later in the evening, we entered at the locker room. It was fine though we really enjoyed the ride even with the locker stress.

It sounds like you are describing FJ's locker situation. It is the only one of the six where it is possible for you to need to get out of line to use them. All others you take care of the locker business before you ever enter the queue.
