Lock-Outs?

Our family recently purchased a time-share (not DVC sadly but that is aside from the point) and will be staying at Saratoga Springs later this year in a 2 Bedroom Villa. We've read some info on All-Ears and saw something about how some of the Villas are "Lock-outs", aka a 1-Bedroom and Studio connected. From what I understand that would make out for an odd layout/no true 2nd bedroom and in that case we'd try to avoid being put in one of those rooms if possible. We'd need 3 beds due to having 2 Adults, a 15 y/o and a 17 y/o which seems alright with a 2-bedroom but we're not quite sure how a lock-out would be laid out.

Any info/advice would be appreciated

Lock offs are as you describe, with a studio and one bedroom connected....similar to some three bedrooms in other timeshares. There are two beds in the studio (queen bed and pull out sofa). There is a connecting door in between the units, but both will have an outside door as well. An advantage could be that you have a second microwave, small refrigerator, etc in the lock off.

I am not sure about the transfers from other timeshares, but we do find out in advanace if we received a lock off or dedicated two bedroom. I presume that they should know what you have.

As TisBit indicated, if you have a reservation they should know if it's a lock-off or a dedicated 2BR. That distinction is made at the time of the reservation.

It really doesn't cause an issue because you'll still end up with 2 beds in the second bedroom...it's just that for a lock-off one of those beds will be a sleeper sofa.

BWV only has 2BR lock-offs, and it works fine for my family with the two teenagers. It works out fine since they each still have their own bed, and we just leave the sleeper sofa in the bed position all week.

Thanks for the info, i'll have to call them back to make sure, don't remember hearing them tell us what kind of room we were in but we probably just shrugged it off not knowing at the time
