We'll be driving into Orlando on the 31st and are wondering if there is anywhere we could take the kids for free trick or treating? Does Downtown Disney offer anything? We are probably renting a house off property and I'm not sure if the neighborhood will participate if it is full of renters who don't know their neighbors. We are going to have 4 kids tired from being in the car all day so we don't want to pay to take them anywhere for just an hour or so but they are a little sad about missing out on trick or treat at home.

I don't know about DTD but I SINCERELY hope you don't plan on imposing 4 kids onto a neighborhood that you don't live in, heck not even a family member lives in!!! That is extremely rude. Are you giving out candy at your house? if not then you shouldn't expect other home owners to give your kids candy.

I'm sure I'll get flamed-go ahead I just find it tacky and rude.

I forget where I saw it, but I have read that DTD will be hosting various activities including trick-or-treating from 5pm-9pm on both Oct. 30 and 31. I know that our family will be hanging out there one if not both nights!

HTH!

Do you have anything near you doing trick-or-treating earlier? A few museums, malls, etc around us do it sometimes on other dates so your kids could do that?

You sound a little cranky. Of course if we were in a trick or treat neighborhood we'd be putting candy out too. Half the fun is passing out candy and seeing the other kids. I think the neighborhood is mostly rentals so everyone would be in the same situation as us. I'm not sure if there's a community association or anything, but it is possible that the neighborhood will organize something for the people who are here like they do in some resorts.

And I passed out candy before I had kids because I liked seeing kids in costume. I didn't ask for ID to see if they lived on our street. I didn't care. I'm sure most towns have lots of people who park in neighborhoods they don't live in so their kids can go around where people pass out better candy. And no, we don't do that, but I know many people do all over the country. They do it in my neighborhood and I don't begrudge them unless it is some 16yr old dressed like a "high school student." But I'd feel the same way whether the non-costumed big kid lived next door to me or not. I feel bad for the kids living in neighborhoods where nobody participates in Trick or Treat. It's not about getting "free candy." It's about putting a costume on and getting to go around saying trick or treat with a lot of other little kids in costumes.

And thanks, pixiemagic, that is exactly the info I was looking for. I couldn't find anything on the Downtown Disney website. Hopefully we can get there close to 5 and the kids can get their costumes on, walk around Downtown Disney for a little bit, maybe get some dinner, and then still be in bed before 8.
