Tonight the Yankees are playing the Oakland A's and the starting pitcher for the A's(Vin Mazzaro) is from my town. I remember when I was playing in my Babe Ruth League and watching him pitch for his high school before my games...he was amazing. I mean I hate baseball but I'm watching it just because of him.

So has any athletes or musicians or anybody special come from your town?

My dad was neighbors with carl lewis as a kid. I don't know if you'll know who that is, but he was some big shot at the oylmpics.

I know who he is...he went to Wilingboro High School in NJ and my uncle ran track against him...not sure what events though but he told me that he destroyed everyone.

Jeff Locke went to my high school. I saw him pitch my freshman and sophomore years for our baseball team. He's amazing. I still remember all the hype when the scouts came around. He's a pretty chill dude, too..

And, OK, so he's not from my town, butBode Miller's "home mountain" is just up the road from my house. He was born and raised in the same area I live. He's around a lot, too. He does a lot of work up at Bretton Woods with the ski programs and stuff.

And yeah, he's not from here either, but Hannes Schneider made his home at a local mountain and literally started the sport of skiing in the U.S. here during WWII. He's the father of modern skiing, and I'm proud to say that he found a home here in the Valley.

and then, of course, there's me ;)

Jeremy Maclin, who's in the NFL went to my high school a few years ago. Everyone still talks about him.
Also, Ridley Pearson is from my town.

Oh, and my cousin is a gymnast, and his coach was in the Olympics. He's going to tryout for the Olympics next month. Exciting!

I'm watching the Yankee game still and they just showed everyone from my town that is there cheering him on and I saw a kid that I used to go to school with and played pretty much every sport with...lol

Im pretty sure he is not the first rookie to make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs because Ben Roethlisberger won the Super Bowl his rookie year and thats farther...lol

He was technically a rookie, but he didn't get any playing time...soooo he doesn't count. lol

Plus his name isn't as cool as Flacco..;)

He started...I'm pretty sure. Because before him was Tommy Maddox and that other guy who was a QB and WR I think his name was Cordell Stewart

And Flacco is a cool name not gonna lie...but not as cool as that CB for the Chargers whose last name is Jammer...lol

From what I found online, he didn't start. He only started played in the second year of his first season. And Flacco was there from the beginning basically.

And Jammer is a pretty awesome last name..haha

Thats sweet, its just too bad they lost- okay, IMO, It's not too bad they lost, its a great thing. They actually played a lot better than I expected, but Go Yanks :]

Quentin Blake, most known for his illustrations for the Roald Dahl, was born in my town. Also went to the grammar school I went to. They opened a new art & tech building dedicated to him.

John Paul Jones, the bass guitarist in Led Zeppelin was born in my town.

Viscount Sydney was born and lived in my town in a place called Frogal House. He's the person that Sydney in Australia is named after.

Robert Knox, an actor in Harry Potter, was murdered in my town last year...

SHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! Noone needs to know that...lol. But I'm guessing you watched the game. Did you see how many times they said how he lived 14 miles away and showing his fans...lol. They kept him in a little too long, and what happened to the A's, if it wasn't for Mazzaro in the beginning it wouldn't have been close. Oh yeah he struck out DEREK JETER too...lol
