Local Hotel Deals?

I am looking to book a hotel room in my own town for just an evening. I know how to get special rates on vacations but I am wondering if there is anywhere to get rates locally? I tried priceline and others like that but they are giving me the exact same rate as the hotels website..anyone have any tips?

You have to be daring and go for Pricelines Name Your Own Price "bidding" option, not its travel agency website side. First see betterbidding.com and biddingfortravel.com for help. Also, simply CALL the hotels directly and see if they have any specials. Find the local - not toll-free national reservation - numbers
