How many of you like lobster? Do you eat the green stuff in the middle? I'm watching Boy Meets Grill and Bobby was talking about it.

I don't eat fish or seafood so I don't eat lobster. Even if I did eat seafood, lobsters scare me! I love to see the different ways people prepare and serve lobster for some odd reason.

The only people I ever hear of that eat the green stuff are on cooking shows. Do real people eat it?

I love lobster but i've never attempted to eat the tomalley (the green stuff). Its a little too much for me... :teeth:

Yes - my FIL was a lobsterman and he eats the green stuff. I hated looking in his fridge because there'd always be a cooked, bright red lobster sitting on the shelf next to a live one that was walking around. Talk about mean!

I do like lobster - but only occassionally. Now shrimp I could eat every day!

To me, the green stuff has no taste...so why bother.

True story: Went to dinner with my mom and grandmother at a very nice restaurant in San Francisco and I ordered lobster. Grammie had never seen or tasted one so I told her she could try it. When the waiter brought it to the table, my grammie took one look at it and said (in a VERY loud voice)....ARE YOU GOING TO EAT THAT PINK BUG??? Of course, I was mortified but then we got a big laugh about it. She never would try it though.

I prefer my lobster tailed with butter...thank you! Less work...less mess! Although it's fun to play with the shells!

Thanks Wagamama. I knew it was called the tomalley, but I didn't know how it was spelled. I was going to spell it tamale. OOPS!

Either wy you spell it doesn't matter, it is still the green yellow gross stuff or is it guts? Eeeeew, I love lobster with butter or lobster saled but I forgo on the green stuff.

I only eat the tail of lobster, so I haven't encountered any green stuff, thank God. :teeth:

I like lobster, but did not realize that there was green stuff....Is it like the green stuff in crabs? (My Ex-FIL calls it "dead man")

Hi, my name is Kate and I've eaten tomalley as well as the yellow stuff in crabs (I think that's referred to as "mustard"):o

I actually like it but it's not really healthy so I try not to indulge.

I love lobster! But I don't eat the green stuff - I was always told it's poisonous?

Jipsy, I was told the same thing about the stuff in crabs.

I only like Lobster tails so no I don't eat the green stuff - ewwww

I love lobster, but only eat the tail and claws. I don't know how you eat the middle, and would never, ever eat the green stuff.
My grandfather always ate the mustard (yuck) of crabs.
I always think it is some kind of digestive matter, or organs or something else gross.
If you get a whole lobster is there anything on them to eat besides the tail and claws??

Only eaten lobster tail once in a blue moon, so I didn't even know that the green stuff existed. YUCK!

I would imagine those living too far south to get Maine lobster don't really run into the tomalley that much.

I like Maine lobster, never had spiny lobster. Don't eat the tomalley. My last lobster had what I think were eggs in it. Red/orange sacs in the cavity and in the tail. I left it.

I'm starting to feel sick... I must leave this thread and never return but I do love lobster tails...

I like lobster but don't think I want to eat the tomalley. I just like lobster in butter. Very Atkins friendly :)

I eat pretty much the whole lobster, even pick at the body and fins but I don't eat the green stuff.
