I took the new version last night. I like it. There was plenty of narration, even in spots where they didn't say much before. I think it gives out lots of great information. I give it high marks.

I'm hoping it's good. I like LwtL. Gotta love a hydroponic eggplant! :thumbsup2

So, is there no boat driver on board anymore? Maybe this is a dumb question but this is the first I've heard about it switching.

Nope, no boat driver. While I thought that the narration was good, I did like the live person better. On the boat we were on, people talked ALL the way through, and not pointing out/talking about the things they were seeing on the ride. I felt that people would be less likely to talk over a live person (seeing how that would be very rude) but felt like talking over a mechanical voice to be no big deal. It made it harder for us to hear the narration, we had to strain to hear over the unrelated chatter in the boat.

I'm disappointed in the change. That was one thing I liked about the ride, was a live person. Each one has their own unique touch for the narration.

We'll be there in 70 days, so guess we'll have to check out and see how we like it now.

The guides were hit or miss. When they were good, they were great, but when they weren't, it made for a boring ride (for a lot of people.)

At least with narration it will be consistent...but I think I'll miss the more personal touch.

I prfered the live guide bcause you could ask questions. But at least they still have the Behind the Seeds tour.

1) I was disheartened when I heard driverless was going to happen.
2) I have bit my tongue waiting to see the ride.
3) My PERSONAL opinion
. . . there is a lot more information than the driver conveyed
. . . factually, one can get more from the ride than previously
. . . the driver made the ride more personal than it is now

4) OVERALL: I think they could have made the driver's speech longer, in order to convey the new facts. I really miss the personal touch. I will still ride the ride, but the "Disney-Effect" seems to be diminished for me.

Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful trip!

I think this is a great attractions and too bad we have had bummer tour guides. I am happy for the audio.

On our last trip I went on the ride twice. The first time we got a driver who mumbled and could barely be understood and did not seem to be really interested in waht he was talking about. The 2nd time, later in the week, we got.... the same driver.

A couple of pluses with using the automated spiel...

- you will get consistency... some may consider it consistently mediocre but it has got to be better than what we experienced.
- they do not have to limit the number of boats based on staffing. All the boats they have can be used if need be.

The only minus I can see is that you may not get as personalized a ride a you did before.

From my DW's, Marie, first and only WDW trip, she liked LwtL the best. :cool1: Maybe the automated will get her back again some day.

Hmmm - not sure how I feel about this one - not that my opinion really matters..... we have always been lucky I guess and had good guides, and really enjoyed that about the ride. I agree that there is lots of information to be shared. (Note to self do Behind the Seeds).

We have ADRs for Garden Grill next Saturday, so we will be sure to check it out!
Thanks for the update!

We rode Living With The Land the 2nd day it was open. I liked the automated version. I thought it was a lot more interesting that the live guides. The live tour guides were OK sometimes, but most of the time you couldn't understand what they were saying or they talked in an almost monotone voice.

I hope this diminishes the lines a bit.

Before Soarin' brought in the crowds this was always a walk on for us but, having done it numerous times it got downgraded to a "not worth the wait" so maybe we'll see it next trip.

I've don't think I've ever had an excellent guide, only mediocre ones.

I really liked the song! Sorry that they took that out.

I am glad to see the good reviews about the automated version. I can't wait to check it out for myself in 3 weeks! :cool1:
