On the Theme Park and Planning board someone posted a little something about an emergency rehab for Living with the Land....anyone else have some information about this? Particularly some official information?!!

In an effort to revive old attractions at WDW, attractions are closing one by one for refurishment.
The Land is one of them.
Disney has not fully released the details involving the refurbishment, but some details have been leaked out. It has been mentioned that the ride will be getting new boats that will be bigger than the current ones to carry more guests. It is not known if the river will be expanded due to the larger boats, but they may need to be. There will also be new video sequences in the barn section of the ride, just before entering the green house. The queue is also being improved to enhance the guest flow in the waiting area.
There is still no mention as to whether the behind the seeds tour will be affected by the rehab.

"Emergency" may have been a poor choice of words...it seems more like they knew they would be doing this, and decided suddenly to proceed without any advanced announcement.

Someone reported that they were able to do the Behind the Seeds tour without issue.

Have they mentioned a date when this will happen?

It's already underway. The scheduled re-opening is November 1, but that may be pushed back or forward, depending on their progress. As Mitros said, it's not a complete overhaul, but it will have new boats with new sound systems, alterations to the video sequences and a re-designed queue. Three-month rehab.

Really?! Already?! That is a real bummer! I love that ride and I was soo looking forward to taking my nephew on it in a couple weeks!!

It is very strange though that there was no previous announcement or even a rumors discussed about this rehab. In addition it wasn't even posted on the official Disney site when it happened (not sure if it is now or not). Normally there is at least some announcement made when an attraction is going down for rehab. It'll be interesting to see what the outcome is.

I hate to be this cynical, I really do, but after what happened to Spaceship Earth, El Rio del Tiempo, the Tiki Room, and Journey into Imagination, you'll understand if I get nervous whenever Disney starts to "rehab" an existing attraction.

The no announcement is what bothers me the absolute most, but after watching classic attractions get hacked over and over it does make you wonder! Though some of the rehabs have turned out well,,,I like the Three Caballeros!

Maybe all of the boats will now be piloted by Pocahontas or John Smith with a stirring video montage at the end featuring "Colors of the Wind"...

Adding videos to attractions, other than in the queues, smells of "cheap". If I wanted to spend my vacation watching short documentary films on raising pumpkins hydroponically, Mexican cliff diving, or whatever I'll just save my $5000 stay at home and watch youtube thankyouverymuch. :rolleyes1

I believe there had always been a sort of video montage in the barn. Probably just updating the close to 20yr. old clips.

Yes, the barn section has a video screen backdrop, and unless the clips were updated previously (I can't remember), they date from 1982. Unless more is done in that barn (as I might fear...) than just replacing the film clips, probably can't screw that one up too badly.

Uggg, so it's closed now? It's strange, but that and IASW are my son's two favorite rides. I don't know why, but I just love The Land, too. It's very calming. We're going in October and that's sad that it will be closed...

Hopefully this is just a rehab and not a renovation. Living with the Land should be kept the same. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't mind a revamp of the Wonders of Life pavillion.

Mmm, how 'bout at least bringing back "Listen To The Land" that played during that sequence? :thumbsup2

I'm going to agree with you 100% on this matter. They keep messing with things that were once good, but now, how shall I put this?...Stink! Yea, that's the word. Either they fired all the Imagineers and Iger$ kids are designing the new stuff, or the Imagineers have lost their Imagination. I suspect that yet again, Walt is spinning in his urn.

They're spending their Imagineering budget on trips to the Himilayas to hunt for the Yeti repairman. ;)

i couldn't agree with you more!
