What do i need to know about this room if i want my reception here?

I will have around 30 guests so I know I have to have 1 cm present. But what else would I think is vital to making the decision to hold my reception here?

Im going to have a look through the TRs but if you fancy putting up a pic of your reception then i'd be very grateful:thumbsup2

I am told you HAVE to have atleast 30. I am having my reception there.. you have to have guest transportation since they take you through the back lot to get in so you have to rent a bus. The lights in the tanks go off at 10 pm so if your reception is late in the evening keep that in mind! You do have your own bathroom access and all so thats nice that it is just your group only! Hmm... hopefully someone else will jump in!

Is it neccessary to have 30 guests???

We were origionally to have 30 but a few have pulled out and we are down to 27

does anyone know if this will pose a problem???

The actual website says:

SPECIAL GUIDELINES

Seating capacity of 84 with a minimum of 30 guests
Existing tables of 6 must be utilized
Lights of the Living Seas aquarium are turned of at 10:00pm
Disney charter bus transportation will be required for this location.
One park host/hostess at a charge of $90 each will be required per each 50 guests at this venue. After three hours, a $20.00 per hour charge will be applied for each additional hour.

I wouldn't stress over it though .. I figure it this way.. 72 hours before is when they need your count. If you definitely don't have 30 people... I would still confirm 30 and just pay the amount you were originally going to pay for the thirty so you are essentially paying for three extra plates that don't exist... talk to your planner though!

i didn't pay a cm fee, but i've heard other people had...

i would ask my planner about the extra 3 people. if worse comes to worse, you could always try to pay for 3 extra "children..."

i loved the lss for my wedding. it was beautiful!

to be honest Caryn - the LSS was only a maybe ... until i read yours and figmentfan814's tr's and now its a definate - i hope to get a pic of the turtle in the background too he he!! I especially loved the way you had your cake set up. Im going to look for a castle similar to yours and do it the same if i can find one.

i hadn't seen the LSS until 2 days before my wedding, so i took a big chance on it. it was the coolest place to have your wedding. the scuba divers kept coming to the windows and my little cousins loved them! it was adorable!

the set up in there is great as well and i love that you walk through the park for a quick minute before you get to lss!

It really did look wonderful (I even copied some of your picks if thats ok!?)

So hows this going to work for me tho .... Id like my ceremony in Japan and then my reception in LSS. Where are they in comparison to each other? And will i have to walk through the park after the reception?

Oh Ihave a question. You mentioned in your report you wished you hadnt bothered with centre pieces. Is that just generally or because you wasnt too happy with how some turned out?

i didn't like my centerpieces and they weren't needed in that room. there is enough decoration already in there, adding more floral was a waste of money in my case.

you do have to walk through the park a bit after the reception to get to the buses. they'll probably make you have a cm escort through the park from japan to lss, unless you can think of another way to get there. you could probably have them take the buses backstage.

Would you mind explaining a little further regarding the other decorations? If there is enough then i'd rather spend teh money elsewhere. I must admit i'd love to steal figmentfan814 idea of snow globes, but buying them and getting them shipped back home would be a big expense. Shame I cant hire Snowglobes from Disney he he

Ohhhhh, I never throught about walking through the park in my wedding dress (only when I go for the DP), so that will DEFINITELY be a highlight of the day he he

that room is already pretty colorful. even with the white overlays on the tables...the carpet and walls have color in them as do the seat cushions around the lower half of the room. then, the tanks themselves are really colorful. the room is decorated for you, so there isn't much to do to it. am i making sense?

Yeah kind of - I think i'll look back at your photos and others to see exactly what you mean. When I read it the other day I was paying more attention to the main subject in each photo, so this time i'll take more of the pictures background in. Thanks for the advice Caryn, it's really appreciated

We had our ceremony at the AAR and we had to take our limo from the pavilion to LSS. Since you go through the backstage areas I think you have to use some form of transportation. It worked fine though because you already have to pay for the limo for a minimum amount of time anyway.

They pulled up behind and then we got to walk around the front of the building like Caryn mentioned and we got some great shots with Spaceship Earth and the LSS in the background.

One tip I took from Caryn was to ask for the lights to be slightly turned up in the room. For professional pictures it's fine, but for your guests it is pretty dark and their cameras' shots won't turn out that well otherwise.

I went there in June for our site visit, and I agree with Vanessa...the lights are darker when on the "normal" setting. It's absolutely beautiful in there, though! The regular linens in there now are navy tablecloths with a meadow green overlay. The green can be switched out for white but I'm not sure if that costs extra. Can anyone vouch for this?

Hmm...I'll be doing low centerpieces since the tables are small (they only seat 6 and must be used in that config).

There's seating on the lower level facing the tank, which is a great way to have the lounge effect without the extra expense. Always a plus! ;)

Here's a link to more info and pictures: http://www.mouseweddings.com/wdwcustomwedrec.html#livingsea the only difference is the blue linens are now navy.

Hope this helps! :)

We kept the blue underneath and switched out the green on top for white and we didn't pay anything extra for the white linens :)
