Living Seas Question

It's been a while since I've been to dinner at the Living Seas--I remember them being a little expensive and the food being good, but not something I'd remember forever. But I really like the atmosphere with the aquarium. I think that my DF would enjoy going there, but what are your opinions? Is it worth the $$ (or the TS credit) for going there?

Others may not agree but...we are not that crazy about Coral Reef.

The atmosphere is very nice - especially if you can get a table on the lower level close to the aquarium. If there are divers in the tank it is quite entertaining. The "entertainment" was the only reason we gave it another try our last trip (we will not be going back there next year).

Atmosphere aside - IMHO the food is most definately overpriced and we were not very impressed with our meals. The service was ok - not outstanding, not horrible.

If you are looking for good seafood close to Epcot Flying Fish in the Boardwalk area would be a better bet. If you are looking for good atmosphere in the Epcot area what about Rose & Crown in the UK timed to coincide with Illuminations?

Hope this helps.

Have a great trip.

Cheers-

I actually will be trying CR for the first time late next month. I have read many good reviews of Coral Reef lately so I would just search it here on this forum and you will find plenty of good reviews..

I just ate there on Monday for lunch and everyone in my party really enjoyed it. Our service was outstanding too. :goodvibes Give it a try.

July Girl........planning on a lunch there next month....would you mind telling us what you had that was good? Thanks!

We were split on this one. My dh really liked the food and me and my parents and dd, not so much. We're more into comfort food (PTC style) and it was dinner so we were REALLY hungry. I thought it was very pricey.

Just ate at Coral Reef ourselves last week and we too think it's very overrated - subpar service (waiter was actually rude to me), food was ok (in all fairness, we can't eat sea food, so we had chicken & steak, so not sure about fish), presentation was kind of weird (steak served in a bowl on top of side dish), too dark and way too noisy!! It was noisier than Chuck E Cheese's in there. We noticed tons of kids and large families, but service is slow, so kids were running around, yelling, etc. The restrooms were also not working properly, so all in all, not a great experience for a table service restaurant. Top level seats are far away from aquarium which also forced my hubby to bring my DD3 through the very crowded restaurant to see the sea life.

We more than likely will never go again as we don't feel it's worth it at all. We've eaten at a ton of TS restaurants and so we have a lot to compare it to, and it just didn't make the cut in a lot of areas for us.

Happy eating, whereever it is you choose to eat! Tiger

This is my favorite rest at Epcot.
DH and I go everytime we go to Disney. Will be taking our kids for the first time Sept 07! Can't wait!

I found the food to be sub-par, servings small and service just okay ( and we are BIG seafood lovers!) The atmosphere is great! We have only been there once, it will be a while before we try it again I'm afraid. On the other hand, we love Hollywood and Vine at MGM and lots of folks hate it. So....try it for youself!

I agree with laceemouse...Try it just once and just to say you did.

We have been several times. The food has always been good. The service was outstanding one time, good one time, and mediocre one time.

Our kids are still upset that the peanut butter play-doh wasn't on the menu the last time we were there. Actually, I think they are more upset that I know the recipe but will not make it for them. :smooth:

That sounds like something my daughter would LOVE!!! She is both a peanut butter and play-doh fanatic. Is there anyway I could get you to share the recipe?

We got the first lunch seating, the food was very good and my son wants to go back and eat only their for their mac and cheese. He says it is the best he had anywhere  . Our chicken dish was good, service was very good and sitting next to the aquarium was way cool  .
We enjoyed it and will be back :) .

We're going in Sept. and I am looking so forward to it. I'm hoping to get a table close to the aquarium to keep the hoodlums(oops! I mean darling children :rotfl2: ) occupied. Does anyone know if they usually have a daily special, or, is what you see on the menu what you get?

I actually have been asking that question for the last couple of weeks and the feeling Im getting is what you see is what you get.. Im hoping since two of us will be wearing birthday buttons they will be able to sit us close to a tank..lol Does anyone know if they have large tables close to a tank? We will be a party of 8.

There isn't a bad seat anywhere! The restaurant is kinda small and the tank is really big! I don't believe there are big party tables in the front (I could be wrong)

We have eaten here twice and loved it. We will return. The food is good and the service we have had has never been bad. Great place to take the kids. Make sure they eat prior to touring the Living Seas...don't want the kids to get fish overload. The tank keeps them occupied well at the meal.
