We just moved into our home and it sits on what I think is a pretty big cul de sac.... the street part of it must be about 100' at its widest part. I had never lived on one before. I assumed there would be almost no traffic, as there are only about 6 homes that actually live on the cul de sac. But surprisingly, at least to me, I bet 40 cars a day turn around in it.
And we're a couple of blocks off the road that leads into our development.
MY buddy used to live on one, and he said that cul de sacs frequently don't get timely winter services - snow plowing. Not sure I agree, as I came up to this house to see if it had been plowed before we bought it. And the streets were cleaned.
Any reason to dislike living on a cul de sac?
It's too late for us now, anyway, but I would like to know what I might need to be prepared for.

). It's great for kids because there's a big open space to ride bikes or Barbie Jeeps, draw with sidewalk chalk, etc. The only bad thing is that there isn't a lot of room for guests to park. And I guess if you don't want the neighborhood kids using it as a playground, that could get annoying.
It's too bad yours is busy. Ours is very peaceful.
