Live from VWL

One final note. DD and DW have gone somewhere and I'm sitting here typing this and sharing a cold beer with four of the coolest looking zebras I've ever seen. It is amazing how close they are. I just love AKV.

this post got me......sitting on my balcony enjoying an adult beverage at WDW is one of my FAVORITE things to do:love:
Enjoy....
I'll be in WDW 3 weeks from today....can't wait.

DD28 has been sleeping on the sofa bed and hasn't had any complaints. The only real complaint I've had is when you open up the sofa bed at AKV, it sure is an involved process plus you have all kinds of large pillows and cushions you have to do something with and this is in a room that has a shortage of storage. It really makes for an obstacle course for sure.
So the sleeper sofa at AKV is different from the newest ones at the BCV and BWV where the cushions stayed with the bed and flipped under the bed? Is it similar to the one at SSR with the memory foam?

I've also had the wonderful dumpster view. You'd think by now they would have put a little wooden roof on it to make it look nicer. I don't recall anyone staying in a dumpster view at any of the other DVC resorts. Anyway - like the OPs said it beats the snow and view of the dumpster in my office parking lot. Have a great time and I can wait to see the pics of the dumpster;).

Could you please tell me more about your studio at DAKV? Is it value or savannah? I think all the standards are pool view. If you found the free laundry, where is it? Enjoy!

BTW, I agree with you about safety and first floor rooms-that's one advantage at Jambo house-you're sure not to have first floor!

Oh those pillows... :rotfl2: Thank you! You just made me feel like our trip to AKV just over a month ago was yesterday! I had SO forgotten that part.

BTW - the extra pillows fit nicely beside the Queen's headboard near the balcony door, um, unless the space is occupied by all the bed pillows.

Sounds like a good time is being had. Enjoy!

Did you have to pay for internet connection?

Thanks and enjoy your time!

We put the larger cushions on the top of the wardrobe, and the smaller ones underneath the pull out. We wound up stacking the two small tables in the bathroom sink area and using those to put extra toiletries and other things on.

Seemed to work out for the four adults staying there. Oh, and that was in a value studio.

What kind of beer do the zebras drink?:rotfl2:

One final post. Well we're finally back home (Cary, NC). We broke up the drive home and stopped at Hilton Head Island. Unfortunately I couldn't get a ressie to stay at the HH DVC Resort, so we stayed at the Hampton Inn. We had a very nice dinner last night at the Old Oyster Factory. Unfortunately the drive home was a killer. I've never seen such heavy traffic on I-95. Plus the road construction in Florida and Georgia yesterday really created terrible congestion. It was weird, here we are out in the middle of nowhere in Georgia at a dead stop. Never saw any reason (accidents, etc.), just heavy traffic and road construction. DD and I joked how it was kind of like a Twilight Zone episode. You kept passing the same area over and over until you ran out of gas. Anyway, we've decided to fly down for our Christmas trip.

Looking back on our week now, we had a nice time, but overall it wasn't our best trip to WDW. The crowds were just too huge. We will not be going back again during Easter/Spring Break time. Being retired we have the freedom to go when we want. Also, I learned a lesson I won't be booking anymore stays where we have to move mid-week. You loose a lot of time on that moving day. Once again, with our freedom, we'll only go when we have the points to stay all in one resort.

So now we start planning for our next two trips - HHI DVC in June and VWL during Christmas (I know more crowds but that trip will be more about Christmas at WDW rather than seeing how many rides we can get on).

We had a Savannah room. It was the first DVC studio on the Zebra trail coming off the lobby on the 5th floor. Perfect location. We didn't look for the laundry.

Still no free Internet connection (that I could see). I had my laptop tethered to my cell phone.

OK... do you do this so you don't have to pay internet? Does it just use your cell phone minutes? Sorry, but I am ignorant when it comes to internet connections and I have to do some school work while at Disney! Just curious!

That plus I can connect to the Internet at places where there are no connections. I use a Motorola Q for my cell phone and a software package called PDANet that basically uses my Q as a modem. Typically you have to have a smartphone with a data connection plan for this type of connection to work. It is not as fast as WiFi, but still usable. Once we get free Internet at our DVC resorts, I'll be using that of course.

You never have to wait for the dumpster view!:lmao:
When we have checked in early, even as early as 7:00 am this room is available!

What I should have done is just kept the 1st floor studio we were originally assigned. This happened once before to me. We were checking into HH and were originally assigned an HA studio but it had a nice water view. I switched to non-HA and got a studio with a view of a tree. There is a lesson in there somewhere.
