We are heading in less than 2 weeks for first ever Disneyland trip!
We are from central Illinois and have to say the one thing Im not looking forward to is double the flight time!!! oh well Im really getting excited. I know it will not be WDW but like it has been said if not for DLR there would not be a WDW. I think it will be so cool to see Walt's park!!!

First time I've ever seen this at Soarin'! At WDW it's at least an hour wait if not two when we've gone.

Yes, the plane ride is definately longer! It doesn't take as long to come home though! Yeah for tailwinds! We were able to see the Grand Canyon and the mountains!

You have the right idea. Don't expect it to be WDW, but DO expect to find similarities and also some things you'll love that WDW does not have. I am in love with the cinnamon roll french toast at Carnation Cafe, the lanterns at the tea cups, seeing characters all over the place, Aladdin, shorter lines, you can walk from park to park, fireworks are awesome, and New Orleans Square is done fantastically. Disneyland feels more intimate to me. Everything seems closer. Not that it's any more crowded than MK, it's just that there are more attractions in a smaller (or same amount of??) space. You'll have a great time!

I booked our walk in walts footstep tour today!!!

I hope I dont fall in love with DLR as I did for WDW due to the fact that this trip is quite a bit more $$$ than WDW for us!!! At least I can now say to DH, see WDW is a cheaper vacation!!! lets go back!!!

Alas I fear you may fall in love with DL like my family has It is almost a third more to fly there...Now we are splitting our time between DL and WDW.
