Hi everyone, as I type this I'm sitting in our room at the Poly (Rapa Nui). We got here last night about 6 p.m - we left Long Island at 6:00 a.m. - headed to West Palm Beach to visit my uncle, but, the plane couldn't land in West Palm, so we landed in Fort Myers - then waited...... The pilot waited out the storms that were causing trouble in West Palm and we were able to leave Ft. Meyers and land in West Palm, but, we were already 3 hours behind. We visited my uncle in Jupiter, and drove up to WDW, we checked in at 6:00 pm.

Last night we went to MK for a few hours, and watched wishes from the beach here at the Poly.

Today we went to DHS at opening and were able to ride Toy Story Mania two time, as my dd said, it's "awesome"!! It's been raining pretty good and the wind is really picking up. In my opinion, it's crowded. The resort is crowded and DHS was crowded today, even as we were leaving about an hour ago.

We have adr's for Le Cellier tonight - don't know if we're going to make it there, depends on the weather. When we got in from DHS an hour ago, we came into the room and there was a flashlight on the table and the furniture from the balcony was in the room - hope that's not a bad sign ....

Hope everyone else gets through this OK, it hasn't been too bad, but I just wish it will go away soon so we can get enjoy ourselves a little bit more.

Thanks for that update. Does the Poly have anything extra going on for kids or families who don't want to venture out?

Hope things clear up soon!

WDW is really amazing in their storm preparations..
we were there during one - in 1995........
the parks opened late that morning....
the day before the hurricane was incredible...
every single loose piece of anything wasn't just tied down, it was removed completely...
the deck chairs from around the pool were completely removed - i don't know to where but taken away....
and throughout the evening and night and next morning they kept in contact with us in the rooms....
we were at the all star music that year...i was there with just the two kids (who were quite young then) but we felt very well looked after....

i hope the weather clears for you soon!!

Stay safe and try to stay dry.

Disney is the best place to be during a hurricane. We were there in 2004 during Frances when the parks were closed for 2 days. They kept us up to date as much as possible.

Hope Fay blows through quickly so you can continue having fun.

By the way what did you think of Toy Story Mania? We just got back Saturday night from a 9 day vacation and rode it 3 times. I think it is one of my new favorite rides!!!

thanks for an update i was wondering how wdw was holding down in the storm

Hey Andrea! We left Orlando Monday morning (we drove) and spent the night in Raleigh, NC on Monday night. We made it out of there before the storm, but I have been thinking about you and hoping your trip was going well. Isn't TSM awesome! Hope the weather has cleared and you are back to enjoying your Disney fun!!!

Thanks for letting us know what is going on at WDW, hope the rest of your trip is fun!!:goodvibes

But I didn't see you :confused3

Hey, Andrea - we're one lake over at the Wilderness. I'm getting a little tired of the rain. Wasn't Fay supposed to be outta here already???

Oh well, maybe tomorrow!

I didn't notice anything extra going on during the day - however, we weren't really at the resort during the day, we were in the parks, and apparently everyone else was as well. One night, when it was really pouring, they had the arcade open and almost all the games were free and unlimited (except for the games where you win a prize) - and another night they had a "paint your own tiki mask", but they were charging $15 for it - pretty expensive I thought. They also had an area of lei making, coloring, and the lifeguards were playing Jenga with the kids in the lobby.

Stay safe and try to stay dry.

We rode TSM 3 times as well - it would have been 4 times, but the ride experienced "technical difficulties" and we had to get off the line, and we were thisclose to getting onto the ride. It was SO FUN - definatley the favorite ride now!!!

I was thinking of you as well and wanted to know how your trip went - lucky that you made it out before the storm. I see you started a trip report, looking forward to reading it. I don't know if I'm going to start one - don't have too many pics from the first half of the trip because of all the rain.

We were definatley tired of the rain after the first two days, but we made the best of it.
We were at WCC on Saturday night, love the Wilderness Lodge - hope you had a great trip!!!
