Live From the May Repositioning Cruise

How many kids are on regular sold out cruises? :mickeybar

Hi Bette and Kim and Peter and Jenn....hope you are having a fabulous time on the cruise (and I know that you are)--we are so jealous here in PA!!

Hey Peter....say hello to Fidel for us!! Maybe you and he can share a cigar!!

Sympathy to the Diser's family....what a tragedy.

There was actually a person here at work who went to Disney with her family and her DH (46) suffered a massive heart attack in the park. I had co-workers call me to tell me and said to me that would be a perfect place for me to die....since I always am in heaven when I am at WDW. The sad thing was that this family had saved and saved to take their two kids to WDW and the DH never had a history of any medical problems. From what I understood, Disney was wonderful and several CM's took the children away from the problem and entertained them with several of the characters so the children wouldn't be too traumatized.

Hi Jeff,
Please try to remember how hard it is on those of us back home who have not heard anything and do not know if this was someone we knew.

::yes::

My heart is breaking for all the DISers on board.... and my prayers are with the family.

Could you really see Cuba? I think that would be really cool. I cant wait to see zillions and zillions of pictures when everyone gets back... Heck, I cant wait to see pictures from the Camera phone as soon as the signals back!!

Sorry to hear the pins and tshirts are hard to get.

The family of the person who passed away has been notified, they were friends of ours and everyone in their family is aware of what happened. So rest assured everyone else on the Magic is fine.

The family has gone to Nassau and when they feel appropriate they will post or have one in our group post additional details.

Thanks everyone for the prayers and pixie dust.

Tom and Diana

As there are only 300 children I am right to assume the cruise is not sold out? Does anyone know how many are onboard?

Hope it is the same in August!!

Have fun to everyone on board. Cant wait to see the navigators when you get back.

To help everyone out a bit...Peter is e-mailing these photos to a fellow DIS'er from his cell phone who is downlaoding them and posting them for Peter, that's why they are showing up so fast here on the thread. Peter and Tracy, what a MAGICal idea, and thanks for sharing these pics!!! Can't wait until we can start reading "live reports!!!"

Isn't technology great!

Thanks so much for the detailed information about the pins and other shopping. I knew when I read how these vouchers were to be handed out that it was going to be a disaster, as much as I would like a set of these pins I wouldn't spend my vacation getting up at 6:00 every morning to stand in line for 3 hours. Lets just hope that disney learns from the May repo experience and changes things on the August repo. Unfortunately I think that we will start seeing may repo t-shirts on Ebay. This is really to bad in that those of us who have family members at home [ children] will not be given the chance to purchase a t-shirt for them from our cruise.

I can't imagine the dining room partially empty. I wonder if that is for the late seating and the early seating is still full or if dcl has spaced out the empty tables on both seating times.

Thanks again for your live reports we're living vicariously through them until we can go on our Aug. repo!

My heart and prayers go out to the family of the person who died. I can't even imagine what they are going through - having to plan for the body transport and make funeral arrangements when you're supposed to be on the trip of your lifetime. So sad. So scary.

I hope everyone on board that has posted here can check in so we know you are all okay.

Did they have some kind of memorial service on board? What would they do w/ the body? Did they fly the family back to FLA? Just curious.

Funny you should ask this as my DH has wondered about whether or not there is a morgue on the ship. He is also curious if there is a "brig" (jail) on the ship.

It sounds like they will have lots of activities lined up for you guys. I think the Murder Mystery with 3 days worth of clues sounds pretty cool. Apparently I'm a glutton for punishment, cuz I can't wait to see pictures and read more about your cruise!

Have fun,

Mike

I have read that most cruise ships do have a morgue on board but that they try to fly the person back home at the next possible port location. I have asked specifically about one being on the dcl and the magic does have one.

There must be a better way with the pin vouchers. Is there some reason why they couldn't distribute a voucher each night with the navigator which people could take to the shop next day? Any "extra" pins could then go on sale in the shops the day after maybe.

I suppose the answer may be that there aren't enough pins for one per stateroom.

What a pin mess! I like your idea KEH! Maybe there will be a better system in place before August.

I'm enjoying your live reports - THANKS!

Enjoy,

UMTerp

There have been over 800 kids aged 3-12 on our past cruises on 11/15/03 & 12/4/04. Add teenagers & babies/toddlers to that mix & I am sure it is at least 1200-1300. The Mickey Pool must be wonderful!

When we did the Member Cruise back in '03 there were very few children on board. We had late seating and were in Parrot Cay the first night - the whole back of the resturant was empty! The family beach was very open that cruise because so many people went over to Serenity Bay (since they didn't have their kids with them). It certainly is a different experience than sailing with a ship full of kids.

Sounds like they still need to work on the whole pin thing. It seems like it would have been easier to release a voucher just once for the whole set (since I think most people would want the full set - I know I would).

Sorry to hear some people are being greedy when it comes to shirts, etc. I'm sure they will be showing up on ebay soon.

Jenn & Pete, Bette & Kim, and Dave & Ellen,
we hope you enjoy the cruise. And we also hope that you use the time to make plans that we can meet all of you in October :wave2:

Has anyone addressed the T-shirt issue with Guest Services. Maybe they would take presales on them and ship them to you. Can't imagine them passing up a chance to make some more money, and if they sold out that quickly, there is obviously demand for them. I know that I would want one as a souvenir. I hope they can do something for you.

Thank you for taking the time to post this information. My thoughts and prayers are with you and his family.

:earsgirl: I am wondering what the Magic does for Sunday Worship Services. I would like the opportunity to attend Mass during the August repo cruise. Please drop a line if anyone knows. I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in Advance,
Carla
