Hello, dear DIS family! I finally made it to Happy Hour at the Internet Cafe this time... free is much better than .75 a minute.
DS is happily playing in the Oceaneer's Club right now -- he was asking me every 3 minutes, "Is it 7 yet? Is the Club open yet??" We met two other families from the DIS last night at the Radisson, and DS and another almost-7 year old became fast friends already.
The weather is gorgeous... the sailaway party was so much fun, dancing and hollering and lots of happy people.
Then we went back to the stateroom for a while, and I just sat on the veranda and watched the ocean sailing by.... the ship is somehow even more beautiful, more elegant than I remember. And every staff member smiles so much and seems so genuinely happy, you have to wonder if many of the world's problems couldn't be solved just by putting all the world leaders on a cruise ship together for a week or two. I can't imagine how there could be any ******* in this atmosphere.
The shuttle tragedy was a horrible blow this morning... we had woken up early and gone out to see it land -- it would have been just a mile from where we were. When I didn't see anything, I thought that maybe there was some weather problem that had diverted it to it's alternate desert landing place. It wasn't until we got ready to leave and got in the car that I heard on the radio what had happened. It felt like 1986 all over again. The ship's captain called for a minute of silence, and you could have heard a pin drop on the ship. It was a sad start to a wonderful day.
Well, time for me to hit the pin-trading station and then it's off to meet our dining staff for the week at dinner! Hope everything is well with everyone at the DIS! I probably won't be able to come back and answer any questions... sorry
But I sure will when I come back! Take care, all!
