Hello, dear DIS family! I finally made it to Happy Hour at the Internet Cafe this time... free is much better than .75 a minute. :-)

DS is happily playing in the Oceaneer's Club right now -- he was asking me every 3 minutes, "Is it 7 yet? Is the Club open yet??" We met two other families from the DIS last night at the Radisson, and DS and another almost-7 year old became fast friends already.

The weather is gorgeous... the sailaway party was so much fun, dancing and hollering and lots of happy people. :-) Then we went back to the stateroom for a while, and I just sat on the veranda and watched the ocean sailing by.... the ship is somehow even more beautiful, more elegant than I remember. And every staff member smiles so much and seems so genuinely happy, you have to wonder if many of the world's problems couldn't be solved just by putting all the world leaders on a cruise ship together for a week or two. I can't imagine how there could be any ******* in this atmosphere.

The shuttle tragedy was a horrible blow this morning... we had woken up early and gone out to see it land -- it would have been just a mile from where we were. When I didn't see anything, I thought that maybe there was some weather problem that had diverted it to it's alternate desert landing place. It wasn't until we got ready to leave and got in the car that I heard on the radio what had happened. It felt like 1986 all over again. The ship's captain called for a minute of silence, and you could have heard a pin drop on the ship. It was a sad start to a wonderful day.

Well, time for me to hit the pin-trading station and then it's off to meet our dining staff for the week at dinner! Hope everything is well with everyone at the DIS! I probably won't be able to come back and answer any questions... sorry :( But I sure will when I come back! Take care, all!

I didn't know there was a Happy Hour at the Internet Cafe. Can anyone shed some light on this free time? Thanks.

So jealous that you are on the ship!

have a great time!!! Hope the weather is wonderful for your entire journey!!

Gina.......I did not know you were sailing this week!!!! I hope you make sure to have a great time at the theme nights and tell the cruise staff that the crazy New York gang (the ones that sailed 7 times) from the 1/4 Magic says hello!!!! That was the cruise that missed Grand Cayman and we spent the night in Cozumel and closed down Carlos and Charlies.....we danced with many of the cruise staff and rest of the crew and had a ball!!!! Tell them Ann, Karen, Keri, Brian, Kyle all say hello!!!!

Also, if you happen to see Becky (Canada) from the dining staff..tell her Brian wants to propose to her!!! LOL!!! We were at tables 39 & 40

I can't believe your cruise is here....I remember us talking about it so long ago!!!!! Didn't get a chance to ask how Powell was doing when we were onboard 1/4. If you find out anything let me know!!!

Hi minniemouse... I remember carlos and charlies from Acapulco.. do they still give everyone a kaluah and cream drink after dinner?

>>^..^<<

GINA! I thought about all you guys today and had warm, happy thoughts hoping you have the very best weather! Have a yummy frozen tropical drink for me, k?! Here's wishing you the best vacation ever!

we did not have dinner there, but they were handing out shots of tequila when you joined the conga line!!! They also came around to the tables with a bottle that they would pour a shot in your mouth...but that was about $3.00.

With about 1/3 of the crew and DCL guests at the bar that night....I can tell you the place the packed and everyone seemed to be having a great time....this was an added bonus for the crew because it was an unexpected night off that they could leave the ship.

Would you do me a favor? We justed returned from the Magic 1/26 the cruise before you. I know of 2 cabins (one was ours) where passangers were very sick with "flu" type illness. Please alert the current occupants to be sure their room is well cleaned-we had a very lax stateroom hostess. I hate for anyone else to have the same miserable experience we did. Email me at monie516@aol.com and I will privately give you the info.
Make sure you use antibacterial wipes! We did and it didn't help but it makes sense to try everything possible to avoid this illness. Also avoid the restroom outside Topsiders. I saw someone throw up just outside there are we were leaving the ship on Saturday. They were cleaning the carpet, but it could still be infectious.
Not trying to cause you any alarm, but want your trip to be better than mine was! Hopefully you will have a great time!
