Live from DL

I bet even the pool water is going to start feeling warm and soupy with these high temps.

It may not be the best thing in the world but a Disneyland day with 111 degree temps sure beats a work day with perfect weather. :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Not for all of us. Some of us get really sick in the heat (heat sensitive) - even when it's substantially cooler than 113 degrees. It would be foolish for me to go to a place where there would be a lot of standing around in bright, searingly hot sun on a severely hot day because I know I'm going to get ill. I'd rather be in an air-conditioned office at that point.

So I would totally skip any day at DLR that was going to be that hot. It's nothing to take lightly. That is dangerously high heat.

You're missing the point though...a day at DL is much better than a day at work. It's like the saying "A bad day of gold is better than a good day at the office", or "a bad day fishing is better than a good day at the office".

I didn't say you had to stand in line and sweat it out, you can shop, hang out at the pools, chill in your hotel room, the hotel lounge/bar, etc. Maybe for the local APer who has the option to go virtually every day this isn't the case because you can pick and choose when you go, but for those of us who can only visit a during vacations, these conditions may not be ideal, but it sure beats the grind at the office.

There's a million ways to beat the heat and I (and many others) would gladly take on the challenge if it meant I got out of work for the day...

I understood your point completely. I have a different opinion. We don't have to agree.:goodvibes I was saying that for me - I would rather be in an air-conditioned office than making myself sick in the heat. For me, it's better to stay at home, indoors, when I am feeling ill and overheated. I wouldn't even go down to DLR unless I could go in the parks - and going to the parks requires standing in line in the hot sun. You have a different view point, but this is my viewpoint!

I don't have an AP and I cannot pick and choose when I go, by the way. I haven't been to DLR since December. I can't go to DLR often, and there are people who live out of state who go there more than I do.

Your heat made our news! It is amazing how hot it is there, I had no idea that such heat was even possible in DL :) I have been to Phoenix for work, in August, when it was 114, and that was TERRIBLE! I have no idea how people can manage that type of heat on a daily basis.

We were in DL last September, and I remember it being SUPER hot. I thought it would be much cooler, but it was in the upper to low 90's and humid. We are not used to the humidity out here in the arrid southwest :)

Glad your able to have fun any way. Enjoy the rest of your stay.

I am amazed at the temps. We enjoy the heat but over 110 is pushing it a bit. Thankfully SoCal does not get these kinda of temps very often, but I would still take a day at DLR in those temps over sitting in my office, just would have to go slower.

Jack, you were there in August, right? That's usually a very warm month (though not up to 113 degree-level). This year only a portion of August was considered very warm and the rest of August was kind of mild (for August!), just like July had been. It really has been a 'delayed reaction' summer in SoCal, I think. What were the temps in DLR when you were there? In the 80's? Or did you get any 90-degree temps?

We had 3 days out of the 6 it got into the 90's by my little portable weather gadget but for the most part the whole summer has been weird even in SoEastern Wa state.
People who can not tolerate the heat should stay out of it. I bet the little emergency/nurse centers have been big time busy with the heat.

It's still hot:scared1: I live in central cali. I can't wait for it to cool down. At this rate my kids won't have to a warm costum for Halloween. Usually I have to but my DD in tights that match whatever costum she is waring. This will be my DS's 3rd halloween, before I just had to rap him in a blanket, he won't be in a stroller this year. I may have to dress them up as lifeguards.

Does anybody know of a good weather website with an extended forecast for Anaheim/Disneyland?

TIA!

I usually use weather.com, and accuweather.com. Between the 2, you should have a pretty good guesstimate. With weather.com, you can type Disneyland, CA directly into their city search and get the specific temps at DLR. Accuweather, you'll have to put in Anaheim, CA.

All I could think of was the poor CMs that are characters. Were they out on Main Street? :scared1:

Definitely, Jack - that little First Aid place in DL (even though it is limited in what it can do) has probably been overrun with heat exhausted folks who over-extended and exerted themselves because they thought they could handle it.

This is also a really good time to 'rediscover' Innoventions! Isn't it usually very chilly in there?

I like Accuweather too! I don't prefer Yahoo weather, but that is the temperature that shows up on my Yahoo toolbar so I take it as it comes. I much prefer Accuweather!

I agree - I feel horrible for them! Some of their costumes are so heavy and cumbersome. I remember being in DCA a couple of years ago and Sulley had to go inside and take a cooling off break (according to his CM handler) on a day that was probably in the 80's. So one can imagine what happens when it is over 110 degrees! Does Sulley even come out in 100+ heat?

Those Villains have to be out for at least some of the time in FL. The Queen of Hearts has a very bulky, heavy outfit to deal with. I don't envy them at all, but they are troopers if they are out there suffering for our entertainment!

We went yesterday as well, just for the day. It was HOT but we drank lots of water and spend the warmest hours at the pool of the Grand Californian and then in the A/C. The pool water was refreshing and it hit the spot! It sucks going when it is so miserably hot but the lines were non exsistent most of the day! When we went back to DL at 4:30 for dinner the longest lines were space mountain and splash mountain both at 20 mins! Lines were super short all day and so that's always a nice trade off. We are going back tomorrow to stay for a few nights and although I'm glad the weather is cooling down I know it'll mean bigger crowds as well.

BTW The prices have gone up at Cafe Orleans...bummer but still not too awful. Pommes Frites are now 5.49 and the Monte Cristo was 17.49. The gingerbread beignets were a nice change and must be eaten with the sauce! Otherwise they just aren't complete in their flavor. Anyway...just thought I'd share the news.

When we got to DL around noon ALL of the characters were out! I couldn't believe it. It was only like 104 at that time but still...was very hot and I was surprised they were out. I have no idea how long they stayed but it was at least 15 mins. Goofy did head in before the others and he had been in the shade.

Also there were lots of local radio stations there and they all had their little booths set up. I felt bad for them! They were out in the heat all day! I am not sure why there were there though.
