Greetings from CBR! This is our 3rd stay here at CBR and so far this is the best! Just like in Sept, we ended up here due to only AP discount standard room available. Our fist stay here was in the 90’s and it was a terrible experience. Our 2nd stay was in Sept 06, just me and the kids and it was an awesome stay. So I was excited to return, but DH was very reluctant.

Since DH had taken a vacation day from work, we decided to take advantage of our time and drive to Disney after dropping ds(12) at school.

Check in was a breeze!! We arrived around 10:30am. The line moved quickly and there was ample staff at the check-in counter. I don’t think I waited more than 10 minutes to get to the counter!! I had asked on the reservation for 1st floor and non-smoking. Not only did I that, but our room was ready right away!

Finding the parking lot for our building was easy. Finding our room was just as easy. On route we got a text message on dh’s phone that WDWR had arrived at her room and was napping.

We arrived at the room and it had that familiar “Disney” smell. Our 2 year old was so excited to be here. He explored every inch of the room. He squealed in delight when he found a tiny bunny towel animal acting as the pen holder. We loved the bright floral curtains with not-so-hidden Mickey heads. The palm leaves design on the carpet really adds to the tropical ambiance. The fern pattern in the shower is a beautiful touch. DH checked under the beds to make sure there weren’t any small objects that the 2 year old would try to put in his mouth. This is our first time EVER at a Disney resort that there wasn’t something under the bed. The whole room was meticulously vacuumed! Couldn’t find a single thing wrong with it. The room was perfect!!

On our way to the room, I noticed mousekeeping a couple doors down. I was so excited at how perfect our room was that I went down to her. I asked her if she cleaned our room and she said, “yes, what did I forget?” I told her she didn’t forget anything, and how perfect the room was. I told her how much I appreciated her extra effort and gave her a nice tip. I could tell that she was really taken aback by this. She smiled ear to ear and asked if I needed anything. I thanked her and wished her a great day.

DH and I looked at the resort map to try to figure out the best way to the food court and headed out of the room. DS(2) spotted the nearby pool and playground, so we promised him he could play after he ate lunch.

DH found the food court confusing. He wanted a chef salad he saw at the Grab-N-Go Market. I opted for a meatball sandwich at Royale Pizza & Pasta Shop. He said he’d meet me at the cash register to pay together. Turns out he had to pay for his food at the register there, and I paid for mine at the main food court registers. He was upset that he didn’t see any French dressing, so he got Thousand Island. I had seen French dressing where I got the meatball sandwich and offered to go back and get it for him, but he insisted he was ok.

The food was very good. DH enjoyed his salad, and I loved the taste of the meatball sandwich, although the bun was a bit gummy in texture. The 2 year old shared our food, and he loved it.

As we were eating, we heard some kind of raucous going on towards the entrance of the food court. We decided to check it out when we were finished. We saw maracas shaking and heard the drum beating. It was a limbo contest!! The guests and recreation staff were having a great time. DS(2) went under the limbo stick several times, totally enamored by the attention he received when he successfully went under the stick. He was dancing, singing jingle bells and having THE BEST time.

I noticed in the Tradewinds that it said “Special Fun for the Children: A variety of fun, games, and activities is offered for children of resort guests. Our recreation team entertains and delights our younger visitores with crafts, beach, and poolside fun. For additional information touch RECREATION on your in-room telephone. I’m tempted to call.

Our son started to look a little tired as we headed out of the Old Port Royale Centertown. I knew it was soon naptime, but we decided to check out Caribbean Cay. We spotted the hammocks and put ds in one. We rocked him and he thought it was the best thing since his pacifier. As we were rocking him on the hammock, another text message came from WDWR that she was going to head to the Mousefest’s Stop, Drop and Roll at MGM, to meet her there.

Next we headed to the playground. DS had a blast playing on the slides. He went up and down the steps and slides a half dozen times. Since he hasn’t quite mastered steps, dh assisted him up and I waited at the bottom of the slides. One word…FAST. The slides were fast. You should have seen ds’s face the first time down. (He hates hills, got car sick when we drove from PA to Ohio this summer, and screams bloody murder on Maelstrom and POTC.) He debated whether or not to go again. He did and kept going and going and going like the energizer bunny. All the while, the sand at the playground entered his shoes.

As we got back to the room, he informed me he had “frogs” in his shoes. So I took his shoes off before we entered the room and got the sand out of them.

I debated whether or not to have dh drop us off at MGM while he went back home to pick up ds at school. But the little one’s eyes were so heavy, he fell asleep. So with that decided to stay at the resort, I texted WDWR that he was sleeping. Apparently, I am very ignorant when it comes to text messages. I tried to text her and I couldn’t get the letters to type out right. I hit a for a J and ended up with several. I asked dh to do the message and he couldn’t do it either. So we are both either very inept or his phone is not working right. We figured we’ll wait till the 12 year old get shere and get him to show us how to text message on dh’s phone. So I think WDWR could figure out the jumbled garbage I sent her. Dh left to pick up ds at school.

By the way, I forgot to mention, it is so cold here! The wind keeps blowing. The sun is shining bright, but the wind makes it very cool. I’m so glad I brought our winter coats, it’s going to be pretty cold tonight. We are going to Epcot since that is the only park open tonight.

Epcot was freezing last night with the wind and cold temps. We got there around and decided to go eat at Morocco. We were so glad we decided to eat first. There was no line at the restaurant, but only 1 table available inside. We sat near the entrance and froze. The food was hot when I picked it up and till I got to the table and sat it down everything quickly got cold from the breeze in the entry way. Despite the cold, the food was delicious! DS(12) got french fries instead of the lentil salad and couscous. He was very happy for the substitution!

By 6:15, we had a funnel cake in hand and were looking for somewhere warm to eat it. We went to the American pavilion. Every table was taken inside. People were standing holding their food stalking for tables. One poor mother with infant in hand, was too slow several times and others steaked her claim. Felt so bad for her. We parked the stroller along the wall and just ate the funnel cake there. The 2 year old got quite a sugar rush. One cast member outside the baby care center said he was like Tigger. She was putting it nicely. He was a holy terror. There will be no sugar in his diet today!

There was no line for Rio De Tiempo, Journey into Imagination, or Finding Nemo, which really suprised us. However, the crowds were very thick for walking. World showcase was packed with people. Mousegears was wall to wall people making stroller navigation very difficult.

We were tired until we got back to the room, so we turned in early in order to get an early start for today. Then at 1am one of the boys felt sick and kept us up for hours. He had eaten too much food and was fine after a few hours.

As for the text messaging yesterday, ds12 figured out how to do it on dh's phone. Turns out you have to type gibberish first, wait till you get spell check then can type a message when you get into the spell correct mode. We would have NEVER figured it out!

It's morning now, and we off to a very slow start. The sun is shining and beckoning us outside. TTFN.

Glad to hear you are having a great stay at CBR. Be sure to post in the CBR FAQ thread about your experience when you get the chance.

I want to try CBR but my travel agent says it is best we don't move from SSR for only one nite. I hope we can and just visit it. Glad to hear mousekeeping did you well.

I am going to rethink my packing and take out all the sundresses and add in sweatshirts and jeans.

I hope someone helped out the lady with the baby! I would have given her my table, but that is me.

Thanks for sharing your trip.

Not that anyone is still reading this but me...but I'm the wdwr in the thread.

:)
