A little worried tonight over my DD. Caitlyn is 3. She came down with a fever last night - today it is running around 104. without Tylenol and Motrin. With Motrin it is running around 102.

Last night she said it hurt when I picked her up on her sides (right under her arms)... Then this morning she said her legs were hurting her. Her throat is not red (as in strep).

She just got off of penicillin on Tuesday for a UTI. She is not complaining of it hurting anymore when she uses the bathroom and I have asked her if it hurts when she pottys and she says not anymore.

I am kind of worried of what this may be since she has been on an antibiotic. All she has wanted all day is to lay in my lap and for me to rock her. I had 20 people come to my house today (Thanksgiving was at my house). If she is not better tomorrow I am taking her to the hospital (her pediatritian is out until next week).

I think that you are going to have a restless night tonight keeping an eye on your little one.
If she is still that way in the morning I agree with you I would take her in.
I hope that she will be better soon.

Robin

I hope that she feels better. It's so hard when they are running such a high temp and they are hurting. Hopefully she'll feel better tomorrow! {{hugs}} to both of you!:(

How anxious you must be! Sending pixie dust your way for a peaceful nights sleep and a break in the fever.

If the fever doesn't break, take her in. No reason to put it off.

Last year, I took my dd to the dr. The dr wanted to check her for strep. The dr also said she wanted to check my ds while we were there, just in case. I told her to go ahead and check him, but he didn't have any symptoms. No fever, no sore throat, his throat wasn't red either. His positive strep result came up faster than my dd's did.

I hope your dd gets to feeling better. High fevers are so scary.:(

My son did the same exact thing as Shannon's daughter. He had no sore throat at all but had a high fever....I kept him home from school and gave him medicine for the fever...then when he started breaking out in little spots I took him to the Dr. He wanted to check him for strep. I said but his throat hasn't been sore....no matter, he checked him and sure enough it was positive and he had Scarlett Fever which explained the bumps everywhere. Of course I freaked until he told me that it wasn't the terrible disease it used to be.

I would definatly take her to the Dr.

Yes, I too, would think Strep, but she just got off the best antibiotic for strep - Penicillan. She should be covered for at least 14 days. I am kind of worried it might be this terrible flu that is going around. I am definately taking her tomorrow if she is not better. The bad thing is I live in a very small community so I will have to take her to the emergency room because all the doctors are closed tomorrow. I just hate dealing with doctors I dont know. But she comes first.

Thanks for the replies. It helps to know all of you are thinking of her.

We've had that terrible virus (been checked for the flu & our is just "the virus) for almost 6 days ... been passing it back & forth between the 4 of us

Here's some prayers & :wizard: coming your way.

Please do take care of yourself as I let myself get run down taking care of everyone else & ended up in the ER for IV fluids.

Update us when you have time.

I would take her in if she's not better. Maybe even if she is. When DS was about 2 or 3, he had a temp of 106!! I was on the phone with the pediatrician at 2 a.m. He told me to give him Motrin and put him in the coolest bath water without freezing the poor little guy. He sat there and I poured water over his head for a while. It came down. High fevers are so scary!! Blessings for your little one.

Sending PD your way and saying a prayer for your DD tonight. I hope that she is feeling better in the morning, but it still wouldn't hurt to have her checked out. I hope you are able to get some rest tonight.

Pixie dust and prayers. Hope she is feeling better this morning.

Let us know how she is doing.

It could be something Viral, the antibiotics wouldn't make any difference. Hope she's better this morning!

Hoping little Caitlyn is feeling better this morning, Cati. Always tough whe nthe little ones are hurting and aching.

I'm sorry to hear she feels so awful. I would take her in too if you can, just to rule out strep. If under her arms hurt, it sounds like her body is aching.

Hope she gets over this quickly. I hate when the kids are sick, us mommies feel anxious and helpless. ((HUGS))

She is feeling some better. When she woke up this morning her fever was completely gone - so.... I decided not to take her to the doctor (would have had to take her to the ER), figure it was just a virus. But now (5:30 pm) her temp is going back up - it is just low grade though - around 100.5. It is sooo hard to make the right decisions.

She is resting now, so I really think it is just a virus. She ate good earlier.

Thank you so very much for all of your concern.

take good care of yourself too!

Don't want you to come down with whatever she has/had.

I know how stressful it can be w/ little ones who are sick as we've had our share of MD's visits & 2 ER visits in the last week.
