Be prepared to be VERY flexible in case it does start 'testing' early. Realize that it's seldom actually advertised (as in it's not on the schedule that you get at the gate, signs aren't posted near the entrance, etc). Basically it tends to be a luck of the draw....unless you're willing to stand around waiting and hoping, lol. They may open it for several hours....but they may also close it after letting 50 people in the door. It can close down and everyone have to leave on a moment's notice (or no notice, lol).....or it can be open and long lines forming and just go on and on.
Whenever we've been in a Disney park a few weeks before something is supposed to open, we make every opportunity to walk past it, lol..meaning get off one ride, go walk past the soon to open, ride another, walk past...even when it means crossing the park just to look. I'm always reminded of that Mervyn's commercial from years ago.....with the lady peering into the window and chanting "open open open"....it's how I feel!
For the poster that talked about going in late June.....go with the knowledge that the lines are going to be HUGE because it's so new.....and just accept that as reality and it's less frustrating! Bring along things to stay occupied in the long lines (bubble are great for little ones) and strike up a conversation with your fellow line waiter....after all you obviously have something in common.
I think it's going to be interesting to have two HUGE rides opening at the same time. At least they're at different parks so the crowds will have to choose one or the other, lol. We're really looking forward to the new Fantasyland opening at WDW in 2012/2013, but are quite afraid of the crowds with so much NEW in a small area....at least this June open spreads it around a little. THe opening of the rest of DCA should be quite wild too.
For those going, please please report back how wonderful these rides are! We're going in early May so the chances of a soft opening are pretty slim (especially since we'll be there the week before the POC4 opening so they're going to be focused on that instead)....and then we'll be taking our "it's too hot and crowded to be there" break until September. I keep hoping the rest of the world will see these while we're on break, lol...and therefore in September the crowds will be it's normal semi-decent, lol. Yeah....I live in a fantasyworld.
