little mermaid closing??

read in the 2007 unofficial guide that the little mermaid may be on the drawing board for closure. apparently tarzan rocks was closed because they opened up the tarzan show on broadway in new york. there are plans of opening a mermaid show on broadway also so the one in disney may be heading for closure. anyone hear any rumors on this

I haven't heard anything about it closing, however it doesn't make sense that it would be due to having a Broadway show. Otherwise, how would they explain the Beauty & the Beast show at MGM or the Festival of the Lion King at AK?

I heard that, too, but that doesn't explain why Beauty and the Beast is still performed daily at MGM. It's on Broadway, too.

I don't see them closing Voyage anytime soon, it is way too popular. Tarzan often played to a near empty theater and many people just walked out of the show after it started.

I agree.

I have to say I really hope it does not close for many reasons.

One is MGM does not have enough stuff for young kids. VLM is one of the best (that and playhouse Disney are the only real reason we go with the kids.) MGM also needs more attractions that can be done any time for kids, not just certain show times. It makes for a lot of planning. You know something besides the HISK play area when the adults are enjoying RRC and TT.

It is really lacking in this area if you ask me. I hope they expand thing for the young crowd at MGM.

I read this too and was surprised that I hadn't read anything about it on the DIS. I'm really hoping they don't close it. We always see this and my kids still enjoy it. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
