Little Mermaid accessible?

Hi, I'm seeing that the only accessible rooms at Little Mermaid are on the upper floors and only have one bed. Can anyone here tell me if this is true? I am looking for ground floor with two beds. Mom can get out of her chair but has trouble lifting her leg up high to get into a high bed or tub. We are looking for the lower beds and a shower with a seat. Thanks so much.

How are you seeing the rooms? If it is through reservations, it might be that those are the only ones available for booking as the others are already taken?

There were several websites I was researching, actually I did find a couple this morning that said there was 1 king and 1 double with a roll in shower, but it's dated 2016. Touring Plans room view feature doesn't even let you see any little mermaid rooms. I was hoping someone here had experience with a stay in one of them.

If you are looking at Touring plans...it’s not accurate. There are 16 accessible rooms in building 7. All floors.
Oh, excellent! I think my best bet would be to call. Like I stated earlier, I can't even see Little Mermaid rooms in room view. Thank you.

We tried calling and it didn’t work. A friend of mine is an EMT in Orlando and her and her daughter stayed there back in October. They had to ask the front desk person and then she peeked in windows. Building 7 is shaped like a capital T. With the 1 wing jutting out towards the lake. The accessible rooms with 2 beds are the 1st 2 rooms on either side of each floor just after the elevators in the middle of the building in that wing.

Thank you! Are they facing the pool? Also, does anyone know if the regular tubs have hand rails and are the tub walls really high?

What type of room did you reserve? There are a variety of accessible rooms at WDW resorts. Some have 1 king, some 2 queens or 2 doubles, some have a tub, some a roll-in shower, Florida accessible has fewer features than wheelchair accessible, etc. The room-type you booked should have described what you'll get. Rooms are spread throughout each resort, various buildings and floors.

We were originally in a preferred accessible poolside at ASMo, but they moved us to AoA since the All Stars won't be open beginning of September. The CM was sort of hard to understand with a bad connection or something, i wasn't about to hang up and call again after the wait!! Mom doesn't need to be in a wheelchair all the time, definitely for the parks and any long distance walking. I'm thinking of asking them to move us to POP instead since there seems to be more choices there. The only resort we've ever stayed in was the All Stars so I'm confused. :)

There are, I think, 153 total accessible rooms throughout Pop.

You may have booked an accessible All Star room, but neither first floor nor actual poolside can possibly be guaranteed. Not at All Stars, or at AoA, or at Pop (or any other resort).

Saw that you switched to the Pop, but in case you ever end up in the Little Mermaid rooms, here is what an accessible tub looks like. I love being able to remove the chair and use it as a wet-room changing chair without actually being in the wet shower area. I also love all the handles at the front of the tub so I can stand up and rinse off and only take a step or two. Plus...who can not break out into song while in that shower?

If your mom ever reaches the point where getting into a bed is too difficult, there are a couple places that rent power recliner chairs and will set it up in the room for you. It doesn't fit so well in the remodeled value rooms along with a mobility device or two, which is how we ended up at AoA this past December. As you can see in the photos, the nightstand is movable in this room so the chair fits in that location but in the remodeled rooms the nightstands are attached to the walls.

did you have to ask for the tub chair? Or rent it independently?

Wow!! Thanks for the info!!

I ended up calling to ask and a wonderful CM moved us to POP in a preferred room..for a little less $$to boot! Thank you all!

A preferred room is just building location. Not sure that will help you with being accessible.

Hi, ZJ5/9D47.

Thank you so much for the info and photos.

That is a great bathtub chair.

Did you have to rent it or is that from the resort?

The chair in the photo looks like a recliner chair.

I presume it was a rental. Do you recall who you rented it from and if you liked the chair and the rental company.
