Yesterday was Epcot day. Our kids always love to play at the Mission Space exit play area. This time, our 6 year old wanted to play the spaceship repair video game thing. We went up there with him to help him play astronaut. The CM told him he needed to let the grown ups handle this part, and that he would be more useful in mission control.
I refuse to believe that little kids are just not allowed to pretend to be astronauts there. I think this CM was just being controlling. It was only our family on the Orion side, and we didn't mind letting the little guy make a go of it. Fortunately, this wasn't his only chance, as we'll be back again in the fall, and hopefully the cast member will have a more Disney-like view of what kids can do.
While our kids were on the playground, we had watched this same cast member play three games with other guests, and he would brag about his undefeated status after the team he was helping would win. I wonder if he had intended to play in my son's place before my husband took over the controls abandoned by our son.
Lots of great cast members this trip, too, of course. And a gift of balloons and bubbles from Mousekeeping made my kids' day today.
