little hermie lost his big claw

DS found it inside the tank yesterday. We thought maybe it got caught on their piece of climbing wood. Someone just mentioned that perhaps he's molting and it just fell off! Said they sometimes eat them so should be in their tank?
Has this ever happened to anyone?

if you have any concerns about the care and feeding of your hermit crab, maybe you cold find some information by going to a search engine -- like google -- and search "hermit crab". I found a wealth of information about hermit crabs when I did that search.
