Little Fockers

By you not seeing the second one may be where you lost some of the sexual humor. Gaylord's mother is a sex therapist (or something like that) so the second movie was filled with that type of humor. So that may be where it seemed a crazy for you and the 11 year olds. The second movie pushed the envelope a little further. And if I remember correctly it has been at least 5 years or more since Meet the Parents and what was considered PG 13 back then has certainly changed since then. Even television pushes the envelope today with what they put on air and it wouldn't have been allowed years ago.

Sorry you felt attacked.

I would highly suggest the following website:

commonsensemedia.org

LisaR, that is a good site....wish it was there when my kids were younger.

Thanks, we did enjoy Tron. It was the second time for some of us.

I guess my point was I don't think is was appropriate for 13-year-olds as it's rating of PG-13 suggests. Potty humor is one thing. This was very vulgar, R-rated territory in my opinion.

Lol, enjoy your free upgrade, I am sure you deserve it for all the complaining you did to management over the vulgarity involved in a PG13 movie with your 11 year olds... get a grip. If you don't follow the guidelines why would you qualify for any kind of reimbursement or "upgrade" as you called it to see tron in 3D, if thats what you wanted in the first place you should of spent the extra $6 and got it for the 3 of you..:scared1:

I have my flame guard on and am going to enjot the rest of The Terminal... racy as it is....

I didn't see the 2nd one. But, I have to say I thought the first one was funny. I have all boys in my house and I'm not above fart-level humor.

And, yes, my kid saw Meet the Parents at age 11. Gasp. Light the torches.

so your not above fart humor but you have a problem with Erectile dysfunction jokes? are they really SO far off from each other?

PG-13- Parents strongly cautioned — Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13

what part of that says that it is okay for an 11 year old to go to? it doesnt even mean you should take a 13 year old, it means SOME 13 year olds might be able to handle it, but you the parent should be involved in the decision.
the whole 2nd movie had Sexual innuendo, his Mother was an elderly Sex therapist ! I think this one was on you, sorry.

Errr, what? Why would I have gone after reading the reviews. I came home and checked to see that I wasn't the only person who felt disgusted by the movie.

BTW, this movie was heavily promoted during previews for kid movies and during kid's television programming. Milking a cat is stupid, yes. But jokes about old men's ED problems do not belong in a PG-13 movie.

Not sure why my assessment of this film is angering so many. The claws are out.
Hyper sensititvity, critise the film you might be critising their taste. As for the films having seen the trailers have never seen any of them. Come on film guys you can make films that have more that toilet humour in them that gets very boring very quickly.

My question is, Why make thread about walking out of a movie, yet give no explanation until someone asked you why? Seeking attention? You obviously wanted people to know what you thought, so why play games and not just say it to begin with?

Why? It's a legitamate health issue, and something that is all over day and nighttime tv.

No interest in seeing this movie, I think it looks stupid, but I can't understand getting that upset about something like this.

ED commericals and discussions about it are in commericals all the time during NFL and other sporting events. Why they might not be joking about it, it's still discussed in the middle of the day. Not sure what previews you saw, but one of them showed Ben Stiller using a needle to help get rid of his FIL's..."issue" while having the little kid walk in on them.

Probably b/c your inital post didnt give ANY information....you could have left for any of a # of reasons...crying kid, projector issues, not liking the movie or something else yet gave no reasons just a "we left after 5 mins".

Again....if you take a kid to a PG13 movie, you run the risk of them seeing or hearing things that you might not think are appropriate. These days, PG13 movies can contain the F word or some nudity. PG13 today and PG13 of 20 (or even 5) years ago are not the same thing.

I really think you have forgotten the dirty jokes in the first two movies.

I tend to do that, too. I bought the original Bad News Bears in a bargain bin thinking of how funny I thought it was -- and between the language, drinking and smoking, DS (then 13) asked me to turn it off!

FWIW the movie has gotten terrible reviews (but so did Tron, which I loved). However I sure as heck am not going to waste my money on it. Maybe when it gets to netflix.

We had two 11 year-olds with us. They have seen their fair share of PG-13 movies, including the first Focker movie.

The first five minutes were filled with un-funny erectile dysfunction and colonoscopy jokes. Including a play-by-play visual of the colonoscopy filled with sexual innuendo.

Before you call me a prude, just know I wouldn't give a hoot about any of this if it was rated R. I wouldn't have taken the kids. But, PG-13, please. And, honestly I find ED jokes to be cheap and stupid. I was embarrassed for the actors.

And, most of the critics on rotten tomatoes seem to agree. It scored an 11% among them. Here's my favorite quote "This deeply dislikable movie gives vulgarity a bad name."

Here's a link to the others, since I'm no reviewer, just a mom.

These days PG13=R. The actors who perform this stuff aren't even embarrassed for themselves. It's too bad you wasted your money on 5 minutes on what could have most likely been discerned by the previews.

This isn't a flame, but unfortunately a PG13 movie these days can sometimes be like a R rated one of a few years ago. I would not take my 2 youngest grandkids to a PG13 movie. One is eleven , the other 8. Atleast without checking what to expect. Happy to hear your night with the kids worked out, and you were able to see a different movie.:)

I would not have taken 11 year olds to see this movie either. I don't even see how they could be interested in it or understand the humor in it.

I'm not sure why the OP is upset. She made a poor decision by taking 11 year olds to a PG13 movie.

This.

I have no interest in seeing the movie (or any of the Focker movies..).

i am really confused as to why all the anger over the review. to each his own I guess:confused:

I went Christmas Eve with my 23,16 and twin 10 year olds. having seen the prior 2 movies. And I As well was uncomfortable.
When your 10 year olds are the younger of 2 much older siblings as in my case... They are seemingly "older" if you catch my drift.

At one point my 16 year old leaned over and said great family movie Mom, don't you preview these things first?:rotfl2:

That said.....Just the night before We watched The Town. I had no issue with the language and obv they know the violence was fake. I simply fast forwarded throught the two sex scenes on that. In this case that rated R movie was a better fit for me than this. I shouldve taken them to see what they wanted To see which was The fighter.
Next time I know I am much more comfortable with the f bomb being dropped than an hour of ed jokes

THEY(the kids) asked to see the movie. It was marketed heavily during other PG movies and during FAMILY television programming.

Ultimately, disregard the 11-year old (12 in two weeks) factor. I would have walked out with or without them.

But THEY are minors and YOU are the parent.

A simple, "You know what guys, I'm not sure this is the best choice for a movie. Let's see something else today & wait until this one comes out on video."

If they balk then my response would be, "Yeah, but I'm paying, so we're not seeing that movie today. Let choose a different one."

I really have little opinion on the movie - the kids will probably Netflix it when it is available.

But I don't understand why you would think ED is worthy of an R rating. Erectile Dysfunction is all over Prime Time network TV with the commercials and stuff. It clearly isn't censored in our society.

You never really know what you will get with PG13 movies. I never take DD10 to see one unless I know for sure what it will contain. Sometimes the language is vulgar. Many times the sexual suggestion is over the top. My cousin and I saw Little Fockers yesterday and we were both glad that we left the kids at home.
