My wife needed an ECV on our last trip because she was having problems with her knee. 6 months later, she still is.

Last time we did a split stay at universal and rented the scooter there and lugged it to Disney. I also picked it up many times to place in the SUV. It is not light.

I rented from Walker. The seat came off the chair and the batteries came off. The remainder was still heavy.

Are there any light weight models that might be easier to pick up and put in the SUV?

Did you get the GoGo Traveller? That's what I've rented from Walker for our upcoming trip. I don't need to break it down but I had someone at a store show me how it is done last Saturday (I also wanted to test drive that thing). After you have taken the seat and the battery off, it comes apart again into two pieces. I didn't find them too heave to lift. They told me the rear section was the heaviest at around 30lbs and that that model was the lightest traveller scooter that they knew of.

I will look into that thanks.

The model we had, the base did not come apart. The seat and the 2 batteries came off.

With two batteries you had a heavier scooter. Heavy scooters with two batteries are designed to last longer through the day and will hold a heavier person. The go go travel scooter has weight limits and one battery. It is a lighter scooter but it will not hold a heavier person. Also, the battery charge will go down quicker with a heavier person.

If weight is not a problem with your wife then the go go scooter may work. You will need to shut off the scooter when you see a show, parade and so forth. You want the battery to last and that will conserve the battery. Keep an eye on the battery charge meter and keep the charger with you in case you need a charge in the park. It will take a while for the scooter to charge up again if you run low on battery juice at the park. You will need to find an outlet, too. If necessary there is a manual mode you can put the scooter in and walk it out of the park if you run out of battery power. My husband gained some weight and we did run into a problem that way.

Thanks
I think I will definitely go after this scooter. My wife is under the 180lbs for this scooter and has been losing weight at a rapid pace as of late. We also don't do all day in the park. But I will carry along the charger.

I just reserved one from Walker. I rented there last time without issue.

Am I the only one that sees irony in their name?

LOL no. But despite the punny name, I did have good service from them when I used them, years ago! ;)

We rented a scooter from Buena Vista Scooters last summer that was their portable model and it broke down into a few pieces that didn't seem all that heavy. It wasn't hard to take apart and put back together either - we also went from Disney to Universal with it. I really liked that scooter because of the tight turning radius - just very easy to maneuver and I rented it again for an upcoming trip although I don't even need a portable one this time...lol!
