Liquor over limit. Duty ?

When I was on the Eastern in July, almost all of the stores in St. Maartin and St. Thomas sold liquor and it was all pretty much the same price. I remember we bought a big bottle of Capt Morgans for like $6. We just couldn't say no. Just go into any tourist shop and they probably have liquor on a back wall or something...
