Is there a liquor and food store near Disney? Is there an option to have liquor and food delivered? Any information is appreciated.

I don't know about alcohol delivery, but there is a publix down the road. They have beer and wine, but no hard stuff. But there are liquor stores close to wdw.

Garden Grocer will deliver both food and alcohol. To order the alcohol you just list your selection in the comments section. This is a great service and we have always had great luck with them in the past.

Hi smola09's mom:

I'm curious as well since DH/I are looking into a delivery service to SSR.

I checked out Garden Grocer and they have a two hour window time frame for delivery. If they have a 3pm-5pm time frame available and we aren't in our room until 4pm, will the resort hold on to our groceries/perishables until our room is ready? I would also like to order a bottle of wine and assuming that I would have to be present for delivery due to an alcoholic purchase. How does that work, where do I meet them, etc.? I noticed that bell services are not available at SSR. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated. This is our first time staying on resort property so I'm not familiar on how things work.

Thank you and thanks serendipity for starting this thread.

Bell desk will hold alcohol and/or perishibles, you do not have be in your room. Garden grocer will deliver based on your credit card payment in advance. Sometimes they ask you to fax a drivers license but usually not. Not sure about SSR not having a bell desk, Thought they all did.

Good to know about Garden grocer and the liquor.
SSR has a bell desk, if you go out the lobby doors and make a left it is about 50 feet up on your left. They have Fridges to store the food in.

Last time at Disney we just walked up to a Winn Dixie and there was a liqour store in the parking lot. We just needed a few things that we forgot to have Garden grocer deliver. It was about a 2 mile walk so not too bad.

Thank you very much for your response. I contacted DVC yesterday and the CM informed me that there's a "holding room" where the groceries would be dropped off and for us to pick up once our villa is ready. SSR does have Bell Services but from I gathered they will deliver the groceries to the villa if they are available.:confused3 CM indicated that I should speak to someone at Garden Grocer to confirm delivery, especially if I order wine. My main concern is keeping our perishables cold and the CM indicated that there are refrigerators in the "holding rooms". I plan on contacting SSR and GG just to double check on everything.

Thanks for the information. Is the two mile walk round trip or each way from SSR? I wouldn't mind the walk but since DH has issues with back/hip it might be a tab bit too much for him.

Wegoshop is who we always have deliver. A very reasonable fee, like $20, plus gratuity.

Sorry it took so long to respond it has been a busy week. Garden Grocer will deliver to bell services and you can just pick up your delivery when you return to your resort. We have never waited for our delivery. You pay in advance as well as tip so everything is taken care of and even if you call bell services when you return to your room they will deliver your items. Very convenient.

Not a problem... I appreciate your response. I like the convenience of not having to wait around for our delivery if we aren't in our room during that time frame. If bell services can delivery our items that would be wonderful. Since we can pre-pay/tip... what's considered a nice tip? We're not used to grocery delivery and would like to tip appropriately... also to bell services.
Thanks for your help!

Hi chartle:

Thank you very much for the map. That's a little too far to walk for DH but good to know how close it is to SSR.

I think there is a Goodings Market at the Crossroads that right as you turn left on 535. the only thing is the locals say the prices are high and no selection. Kind of like if it was the only thing open they would do without.

Hi smola09's mom:
We typically tip 15% of our total order. HTH

Thanks for your response. I did some research and I really like GG. I sent them an email asking about what kind of wine they are able to get and included a few brands. They responded very quickly, able to get one of the wines I listed, provided a price range and was very professional. So far I'm very impressed with their customer service. Prices for their items seem reasonable as well as their delivery charge.
Thanks again!

Without a car - I'd do delivery. And bell services do know what they are doing with regard to the grocery orders - cold stuff cold, etc. You don't need to be there.

If you are looking for wine for your trip - you CAN buy it around Disney property. Sure - you might pay a bit more, but it can be fun to shop for.

If you have a car - I'd do the Winn Dixie and liquor store someone earlier referenced. Just far enough away prices aren't WAY too inflated, and I was pleased with the selection.

Thanks for your input.
We will be in Orlando for two weeks. :banana:Our first week will be at SSR and still hoping that our second week via. RCI exchange will come through at one of the DVC resorts. If not... we'll be off property for week two. As of now (Plan A)... we won't be renting a car since we are staying on property :yay: the first week. IF we end up on property for the second week... we'll rent a car for a day to see the area and do additional grocery shopping if necessary. Even though we are doing the DDP... we'll use the TS/CS for lunch/dinner and will have breakfast in our villa. Any place that sells wine we'll end up looking at since we may find a wine that we never had. :)
