Liquor at the hotel shops?

Hello all,

We're going to be heading down to Disney in just a few days (can't wait to escape the miserable Michigan weather :cool1: ) and I was just wondering if anyone knows about how much a bottle of rum or tequila costs in the shops at the resorts. I'm expecting it to be pricey, but I'm just wondering how much to budget, and if it's really worth buying a bottle of liquor or just buying drinks at the pool bar. I've been able to find prices for beer and wine at the shops but so far nothing about liquor, other than the fact that you can buy it. If anybody knows or at least has an idea that would be great!

Thanks!

I called before I went to the Poly to see what their store charged for alcohol. They had the small bottles, for $20-$25. It was pricey, but not too awful. I'm not sure what exactly you are looking to purchase... however, I know for vodka the best they had was Absolut, so it wasn't top-top shelf... but not the worst either. BF and I stayed for a week, so we ordered our Kettle One vodka through Garden Grocer. There was a $12 fee... but if you are buying mixers or anything else the fee covers all of it.

You could try calling the resort you are staying at directly and ask to speak with the store on property so you can get a better idea.

I would say if you are planning on doing much imbibing at your resort, get a cab and got to a liquor store in the area. The prices you will pay will probably more than cover the price of the cab. Although it's not liquor, as an example I think the price of a 6 pack of beer is about $12. Why pay those kind of prices?

Will you have a vehicle at your disposal? There are several ABC stores close by. If not I believe a pint of Bacardi Rum at the WL merchantile was around 11.00. Let me know if you will have a vehicle and I will provide you directions for ABC stores.

How did you get Vodka from Garden Grocer? I can't get any liquour to come up on their site?

you add what liquor you want in the comments section - they will buy whatever you want we've done it with beer and wine and vodka

Unfortunatley we won't have a car, thats why I was trying to get an idea of what the prices are, to see if it would be worth the cab ride to a store or not. From the responses back it seems pricey, like I expected but not outrageous. Thanks so much to all who replied :)

We used to go with the flow and buy from the pool bars, gift shops but the prices have been going up, now too high. A couple of trips ago, I purchased what I rhought was a fifth of Jack Daniels from the WL gift shop, saw the price was like 28 bucks, but figured what the hey, I have no car, and when they pulled it down it was just a pint, said no thank you and we bused to DTD and walked to Goodings and bought beer and wine. We now take a car service to WDW and they stop at a Publix in Kissimmee and next door is an alcohol store, talk about one stop shopping. We've done this twice now, two trips same car company and just love the convenience of the 2 stores, we save a bundle on snacks, picnic fixings, alcohol and drinks. We never lack a thing, we figure by doing this, we pick courtyard rooms and set up our own conceirge service with the savings, refillable mugs for endless mixers too.

We were thinking about packing our liquor in our checked baggage. Per Airtrans site it states:

Alcoholic Beverages – you may take up to five liters of alcohol with an alcohol content between 24% to 70% by volume (48-140 proof) per person as checked luggage if it's packaged in a sealable flask or bottle. There are no restrictions on volume allowed in checked baggage for alcohol less than 24% (48 proof).

Is there any reason why this would not work? We will not have a car and I would like to keep our grocery order as simple as possible.

Thanks

My boyfriend wanted to do this, but I was worried the bottle would break so we ordered from Garden Grocer instead. I wonder if anyone has successfully put alcohol in their luggage. BF seemed to think it was easy to do. :confused3

I noticed that some of the bottles at our local liquor store are plastic. I figured I would buy those and put into a ziploc bag (just in case). I little tequila, mix and a mini blender and my margaritas would be good to go.

I bring wine back from Wisconsin several times a year, I usually just get some bubble wrap from the winery and pack it in the middle of my bag. Always in perfect condition when i get back home.

A little off the thread question but.......I like wine(ok with cheap) and hubby likes beer (imported strange kinds) and I am wondering where I can buy beer and wine and the costs. I fugured at the most one bottle of wine and one six pack per night +/-. I refuse to pay the $40 per day wine upgrade in the dining package....I will not pay $40 for a bottle of Woodbridge (I like Woodbridge but pay $7 to $12 for it).

Where do you buy beer and wine in Disney world and how much is it????

Anywhere you go in WDW is going to charge you alot for booze. As a previous posted said, I suggest you get a cab and go off property and get the booze. I think I remember paying about $10.00 for a pint of rum.

Then bring some cash for the drinks at the bars.

I'm an import beer fan too("the strange kinds"). Basically I stopped buying beer at WDW years ago because it was so expensive. I remember paying $4 for a bottle of Heineken and that was a long time ago. I think a six-pack of beer is something like $15 in the shops. If you're going through a six-pack a day, that makes getting a cab to an off property store pretty economical.:earsboy:

Considering its WDW, the prices on Rum at the hotels are not too bad. We usually buy a bottle of Captain Morgan, and then when we go out for the night have a few drinks in the room or at the pool if we are walking around we will put it in a bottle of coke mixed.

:dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: I have many times brought along a bottle of Captain and Vodka on the plane. Just seal in plastic and yes to buy it in plastic bottle. Never had a issue. Nice to make a drink to take to pool or a night cap. It not the price of the bar but nice just to make a drink and not have to go out. One drink DTD is $7 to $8 and a bottle is maybe $10 for medium bottle.

I was thinking of buying some wine in Germany to take back to the hotel, I think you can buy it by the bottle there. Anyone done this before?

Is hard liquor sold in the grocery stores along with beer and wine or do you have to get it from a liquor store? We are planning on cabbing it to pick up what we need the first day we get there to get our alcohol and mixers.
