liquid ban on planes could be lifted

I've taken empty water bottles and filled them from a fountain after I've gone through security.

I kind of hope that the liquid restriction stays the same. Eliminating it will just mean more carry on bags and I think there are already too many. Delays departures and encourages some to take luggage they cannot handle themselves. I'm tired of getting bopped on the head just because I prefer an aisle seat!

I'm curious how it could lead to MORE carry ons. Heavier, overstuffed, or larger carry on bags I could understand as a result - but if you can only have one plus a personal item, it's pretty obvious if you are bringing two plus a personal item. I think there should be weight restrictions in addition to the size restrictions of carry on bags. I also think a little more enforcement of the carry on rules wouldn't be a bad thing either.

Personally, I don't have a problem with the liquids issue now, and I didn't have a problem before they restricted them, so I don't care if the restriction is removed.

Some people check a bag rather than do just a carry on because of the liquid & gel restrictions.

I totally agree about ramping up the enforcement.

And between now and then something else will happen, that will cause all of that to become null and void and travel items even more restrictive..

I'd love for them to lift the restriction but I'm sure you are correct.

While, I kind of understand the liquid restriction, it doesn't always make sense. The 3oz bottles in a quart sized bag sounds so arbitrary. You can fit 4 3oz bottles in a ziploc but you can't carry on something in a 4oz bottle that fits in the bag? :confused3

The liquids ban is a major pet peeve to frequent travelers such as myself (100,000 per year flyer.) I never trust that an airline is going to have adequate bottled water on a flight (this is especially a problem on international trans pac flights.) Since I can no longer pack my own bottled water I am forced to pay airport extortion prices vs grabbing out of my own fridge for pennies. Sure you can fill up at a water fountain, but many times fountain water just tastes "off" so I budget $10 per round trip just for water.
Ditto this- most annoying part of liquid ban is lack of drinkable water. I pack my family Camelbak bottles and we dump out the water before security. After security my DH usually has to buy coffee, so I hand him the empty water bottles and he asks the coffee shop employee for some water, please. It usually works out, but it's a drag for those of us who drink mainly water. Especially water that tastes decent, not like Orlando tap water!
