WDW just updated the film montage at the end of GMR (Great Movie Ride).

The new film include these new additions:
Chicago
Pearl Harbor
Pirates of the Caribbean
Narnia
Finding Nemo (in place of Lion King)
and
Forrest Gump

THEY REPLACED LION KING CLIPS WITH FINDING NEMO?!?!

That's just wrong.... How can you replace that top grossing Disney movie with Finding Nemo?! I love the movie and all, but the quality is nowhere near that of The Lion King. (The only Pixar movie at par with Lion King is Toy Story)

Also, Narnia is STILL IN theatres! I don't think it's a classic unless it's been out for at least a few months!

The only thing I really have a gripe with is the fact that they probably cut classic films out of the montage to put in contemporary movies. Soon, theclassic films will be no more to the children of today...It's sad really.

Does anyone else see a problem with this?

I love how they keep this part of the attraction ever-changing. It makes it extra-special seeing it each time we visit. I wouldn't too worried about the changes -- wait until next time and some other films, perhaps some you like better, will get their turn the montage.

I love the additions, but I wish they kept The Lion King, that is a TRUE classic. But I love Nemo just as much. And they probably put Narnia in there for more publicity. Even though they have enough. I love the Pirates part :thumbsup2 I'm glad they added some newer films, I haven't seen most of those movies before they changed it.

I think the changes in the end were good. I also think they need to do alot more changing in other parts of the ride too. They should add more scenes from Disney movies. I guess they are trying to keep it Classic Hollywood though, thats okay too, but I just think they need to put more Disney in it.

Pearl Harbor? Did they also change the name of the ride from the "Great" Movie Ride to the "Incredibly Mediocre" Movie Ride?

No biggie as things change all the time, but usually they feature great movies in the ride.

I liked The Lion King, but a TRUE classic would be Mary Poppins or Fantasia. :)

If I'm not mistaken, they DO have a Mary Poppins clip, and a clip from Fantasia (the hippo in the ballerina outfit). I hope they didn't cut those out. I agree that those are true classics! :thumbsup2

Yes, I believe they do have a scene with Bert from MP and that Fantasia scene. I'm just frightened they'll cut out some of the older films. Those clips made me interested in black and white film. But all B&W Classics aside, I'll tell ya...if they ever cut out Star Wars or Indiana Jones, I'm going to cry. I love how it goes into hyperspace as you begin to move through the doors. :)

Mary Poppins is already a part of the attraction, so maybe Disney thinks it unnecessary to add a movie clip. JMO. ;)

I wish they would rework the Alien scene. Sorry, it always creeps me out and ruins the nostalgic factor of the attraction.

I think WDI would be happy to read this. After all, they were trying to creep you out

Changes are good. I can't imagine being this upset with not having a 2 second clip of Simba in there. Honestly, I wouldn't have even noticed it wasn't there if it hadn't been pointed out

Chicago=Fits in well I would say

Pearl Harbor=..... oh look things go boom. Could have been so good. I have family in the military at the time and they have some great (amazing but horriably sad) stories. If it had been more about the people and less about things blowing up it could have been something. But I understand thought cuz didnt they have that at the backlot tour a while back?

Pirates= good addition. It is what i concider a modern classic on key with Indiana Jones

Narnia= !!!! It's still in theatres!!!!!!!!!!!! Shouldnt a film prove itself for at least a few years before being put in. It hasnt even come out on DVD for gods sakes!!! the ride is about all time greatest movies....not hey lets see if we can promote one of our own....this PISSES ME OFF!!

Finding Nemo=im indifferent, but replacing the Lion King!?!?!

Forest Gump= I think it fits in with the other well. Also a modern classic.

so the GMR has become a commercial for Disney Movies.

One other thing that makes me mad. I went on the ride with people who didnt know some of the movies, and it was because of GMR that they went out and watched them. The ride encouraged people to get out and check out movies they might not normally have seen.

But now, they are just throwing in more current movies just to satisfy people. THey are dumbing it down......

Well at least they didn't put Titanic in...
(then again I have been called a film snob)

The ride is a classic! I dunno what people would find wrong with it.... ...
