Linking res and prepaid dining

So I rented my points to someone who wanted dining and to link it to another res.
How would you pay for dining now that it has to be prepaid? The quest can not call to add it with there credit card. Your guest may not want to give you there card number. For me it was a face to face meet and I handed him my phone to give CM his number.
Since when did DVC start requiring both members to be on the phone together to get 2 res linked?

I believe that the requirement for members to both be on the phone is very recent--maybe the last 6 months or so.

As far as payment, there are several options I have read about--renter buying a gift card and then giving the owner that number. The renter simply sending the money directly to the owner via paypal or certified check.

There may even be owners who won't deal with the dining plan since it has to be paid for in advance.

I have not rented, but I can tell you that I just had a situation when I checked in to the resort and they had it showing that I still owed for the dining plan. I had to call MS to get it straightened out. It took over 20 minutes to resolve the problem--not a huge deal for me, but had I been a renter, it would have been much longer since they would have had to get in contact with the owner first and then had them get in touch with MS.

In the end, the issue was something to do with the way the reservation was transferred from MS to the resort but until it was resolved, I was not allowed to check in and have access to my credits.

Personally, if I was renting out my points I would not offer the DDP. Too much headache IMHO.

I just rented points to someone for the first time this week. It is a split stay (two days at AKL, two days at BCV) with the dining plan added to each reservation. I had to pay for the dining plan separately for each reservation even though they were both under my points. I sent the renter the room confirmation letters which both indicated that the dining plan had been added and the renter included the full amount of the dining plan with the room deposit. Really no hassle at all.

It was interesting that the CM said I needed the other member to break the link so I could add the DP and then relink. When the 3 way call would not work, he broke the link, took the DP money and then would not relink the ressie once he got our money. I had to call the next day with a conference call to get the ressies relinked.
Where would I find this linking policy written?
