Linking Magic Bands without Tickets

Can you link magic bands bought through Shop Disney to a resort only reservation for individuals off your Family and Friends list if you don't have tickets? I can see on my reservation that I can buy a few designs under magic bands with my resort reservation but they aren't what I am looking for. So if I buy a magic band can I link it to someone my Family and Friends list (that are showing on the resort only reservation) or do I have to wait until I get to the resort?

You don't need tickets in order to link a Magic Band to a person in your MDE account. MagicBands are linked to the account and you don't need to have a resort reservation or a ticket in order to link a MB. There should be an option to link a MB to someone you manage in your account.

If someone is showing on the resort reservation, you can buy a discounted MB for them through the link in MDE - there should be a separate "buy a MB" link for each person named on the reservation, and any MB purchased via that link will be linked to them automatically. If you buy a MB through the link under your name, it will be linked to you and cannot be transferred to someone else.

If you buy a full-price MB through some other source (e.g. ShopDisney), when it arrives you can link it to anyone in your F&F list through the "Link a MB or Card" process in MDE. I believe that has to be done via the MDE website, not the app, though.
