Linked reservation gets erroneously canceled and uncanceled

So I'm lazily checking my email inbox, and my heart nearly stops when I see an email from DCL saying my cruise reservation (on Fantasy for Feb 2017) has been canceled. Before I could stop gasping, another email arrives saying congratulations, I've booked a cruise, with the same reservation details as the canceled one. One glaring difference: the cruise price is now over $200 more than when I originally booked it on board Wonder at the beginning of October.

We always link our reservations with another couple we cruise with every February. I knew they were going to re-shop their reservation for the cruise on board Fantasy this week while cruising with their kids to see if they could save some money. Apparently, what happened is when the on board agent canceled their reservation today to re-book them, they canceled us, too, because we had already linked our reservation numbers for dining. Then, upon realizing the mistake, the agent reinstated our reservation (with the on board discount and OBC) but at the current fare price, not the price we received over a month ago. And did not notice. I went right online to the DCL website to check the reservation and sure enough, everything except the price was the same.

I immediately called DCL and was on hold about twenty minutes while they tried to sort out what happened. Happily, it was resolved and they sent me a new confirmation email with the fare corrected to what it was originally. The agent on the phone confirmed I still had the OBC, too. Retract claws. :-)

I guess this was always one of my worst irrational (well, maybe not so) fears with booked cruises: that I'd suddenly find out a future cruise had been canceled (and not by me!) and I'd be in for the fight of my life trying to get my reservation back intact. Fortunately, I noticed it right away and was able to get it corrected within a couple hours of the mistake happening. Guess it's always a good idea to check your reservation details every so often, just in case!

Whew, heart rate back to normal.

Hope your Monday's been more peaceful!

I would have had a panic situation for sure! My fear would be that not only the price would be different, but that someone else would swoop in a book my room. OR, what if it was a sold out cruise and someone took your room and there was NO WHERE on the boat left? AND, what if you had already bought airfare?! PHEW! I'm glad it's all good now! :rainbow:

Yep.

Should we cruise DCL in the future and should we go at the same time as cousins AND should we want to link cruises...I'll link them more towards the last moment, I think.

I can't even imagine seeing the cancellation in my inbox when I didn't cancel it!! I always have anxiety when I cancel WDW dining reservations because I have to double and triple check before I hit cancel that it is indeed the reservation I no longer need. :faint: Glad it worked out for you and they didn't give your room away!
