Lining up at security gates?

If we show up before opening without any bags to be checked, can we go straight to the gates to line-up, or will we still be forced to go back through security?

You will still have to go through security. They clear out the esplanade before opening security.

So just hang out at the security tables. A line usually develops there anyway. Security usually open up about a half hour before opening.

In the summer months do all the security tables open at the same time every morning? I read on another thread that only some of the tables open. We will be coming to the ones on the Grand Californian side and plan to be at security for 6am (we will be up early anyway due to our body clocks being 8 hours ahead of California time!!)

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I have a supplemental question. Let's say you are among the first in line at security - once you get past, which gates do you line up at?

They have signs above them. If it's Magic Morning, go to a turnstile that has the sign above turned to "Magic Morning". Otherwise I think they just say "general admission" or something like that.

Unofficial Guide says to line up at Gate 13, because the line at gate 14 is partially blocked by a tree, and feeds from the line at 13, so it moves faster. A couple people on here have confirmed that the line on gate 13 moves quicker.

But if you're one of the first in line at security, you can take your pick of turnstiles. Sometimes it's only even or odd, but if it's not immediately evident, ask a CM that is wandering around behind the gate.

Danauk, I think I answered this on that other thread, but just pick a security table-- at 6 a.m. you'll likely be the first or second one there. They'll open the one where the line has formed behind you, I'm thinking.

Line 13 is definately shorter! It was so weird, when we arrived, the lines were crazy, and there were only like 5 people in line at gate 13, the other lines surrounding were at least 5 times longer, we did not wait at all. This was first thing in the morning too!

Did you go on a Magic Morning day...or a regular day? What time did you arrive at the park?
