Line Waiting Suggestions?

We will have a very active and energetic 17-month-old when we go in Sept. (only 37 more days ) This is our first trip anywhere with him and I am so nervous about the line waiting (obvious first time mom here lol). Anyone have any suggestions how to keep him entertained???

We had some of her favorite toys in our hand. Her musical phone was a great and I bought a cheap beaded necklace that I wore that she loved looking at the colors and touching . Good Luck

I just added some bubbles to my list of things to bring for DD (who will be 21 months when we go). I will also be bringing some small battery operated fans for her to hold, and maybe a keychain flashlight.

Got back not to long ago with my youngest DD being just 18 mo at the time.

The few lines (like KS in AK) you can bring your DS about 1/2 way thru the line and park your stroller. But for all other line waiting, DH generally held her or she totted along a little bit w/ her older siblings.

She actually enjoyed people watching and as energentic as she is at home, she was a little subdued at the parks.

If he has a favorite toy or lovey (mine her blanket) have that with you. A plastic baggie or cup w/ a lid w/ a snack helps to pass the time.

I think the best tip would be allow some free roaming time for him like at Pooh's Thoughtful spot or walking around and looking at the plush in the gift shop to burn off some steam, then sitting in the stroller or being carried won't be so bad.

Simple peak-a-boo and patty-cake and look over there what's that pointing games can do the trick too.


My hardest time was riding the buses...not standing in line.

i also did the bubbles. you can get some of those tiny bottles that they use for weddings at a party store..the cap snaps on and you don't have to deal with a big drippy bottle in your bag.

also, most lines at disney are themed in some way...i found holding my sons (they were each between a year and a year and a half on various trips) and pointing out the different sights on lines helped. the only line i remember ever being really torturous was dumbo, and even that had little toys on the ends which helped for a few minutes.

the best line for a baby, IMO, is kilimanjaro safari because you can keep them in the strollers for a long time. too bad more aren't like that (or maybe they are now...haven't needed a stroller in years).

Please do not blow bubbles in line. Some people are allergic to bubble solution (my daughter included, although she seems to have outgrown it) and bubbles can sting when they pop in your eyes and stain clothing as well. Spilled bubble solution can be dangerous. Also, a small child can easily chase after an escaping bubble and get under the queue ropes and out of sight much faster than an adult can follow.

Line time= snack time! something that takes them a while to eat- Cheerios, goldfish.. etc.

Thank you for bringing it up about the bubbles. Although your own child may enjoy these, not everyone around you will. These are better left at home.
