Line holders

A good idea except for one issue, that group can then all get in another line elsewhere and get a FP that nobody else can get. If there was a way to prevent them from getting in other lines it would be great.

But that's pretty similar to the way old paper FPs would work. You'd send a runner with all the paper admission media while the others would go do something else. In my case, it was often something I didn't mind missing, or because I could navigate crowds like a New Yorker, I'd often catch up with them before they made it to the next line. Or, because we'd try to go when crowds really were light, there'd be plenty of walk-ons, like IaSW, where no one cared if I went through to join others because the total wait for everyone was under 5 minutes. This last scenario apparently doesn't exist anymore, and my legs aren't what they used to be, but I've been there enough that I still wouldn't mind sitting out a ride in order to get passes for the group. Think ordinary restaurant, where one person goes to get a pager while the others browse the mall.

Nevertheless, I still see the advantages to FP+, at least for those groups who simply don't have someone capable of running across the park to pick up passes in person.

You would think it is that simple, wouldn't you?

I think that this post sums the entire thread up in regards to the those of us who dislike the line cutters. Most of us are okay with the "thing that happen" in queues, btu have little tolerance for the "My time is more valuable" mindset in queues.
Wish I could like this a hundred times. Sums it all up perfectly!

I was saying they could hop in a standby while waiting 90 minutes for their group return time, i wouldnt have an issue with normal FP as anyone else has equal access to those. For this to work they couldnt gain an extra advantage, but it would be nice if not all 50 needed to be in line disrupting everyone else.

Maybe I'm not following but wouldn't this just create longer lines everywhere? Instead of standing in line for ride A... they are standing in line for ride B... and then go to the front of the line on Ride A.

If there are 45 minute lines for ride A and B already... those wait times will go to 120 minutes each. (Yes made up numbers)

I think they go to an expanded FP system in the next few years, with the ability to make up to, say, 7, and then turn the standbys to single riders used to fill gaps.

Or they go to a deli-number (or walk-up at restaurants that cater to walk-ups) system, where you scan your band and it puts you in a line. MDE tells you about how long the wait is for a party of your size. You get a notice or a beep (like one of those buzzers at restaurants, but there are too many people for the to give something out) on MDE, and you get 5 minutes to respond. If there's no wait you can walk right up, but otherwise you wait to be seated, until your number is called, and then you're in a very short line. You still have your FP reservations so you can anchor your day, but this is just another version of it (yes, I know it sounds exactly like FP-, but the difference would be very, very tight return windows. FP- encouraged you to come back later; this would encourage you to stick around in the general vicinity, just not in a line).

That way people are walking around and spending money instead of waiting in lines, there's no issue with line cutting, WDW knows more about what you like and therefore can target you for more merchandise, and no one has to deal with all the stuff we've been talking about. Very expensive, but maybe the architecture is in place with MDE.

More and more people come every day; the lines will continue to grow. It's time for some dramatic thinking to try to mitigate them.

Here is an idea. They could just wait in the line! If a family, person, couple, or huge tour group has an issue with lines, maybe Disney is just not the right vacation destinations.

Why are the choices only agree or "get worked up"?

You don't have to agree. I don't agree with it either, but it takes less effort to let the rude line cutter walk through the line and catch up with their group than it does to argue with them or tell them no and spread out so they cannot walk through.

I have seen people tell them no and they just crawl over or through the bars/chains and get ahead anyhow. Until Disney chooses to enforce it and do something about it, it will never stop.
Again - lots of other things worth taking a stance on. This is minute in the big scheme of things.

Actually it is easier to say no, and simply not move.

Anyone cutting in front of me, requires me to move out of the way. Or it requires me to move the scooter forward steering partway under the ropes/bar/chain. This happens whether someone is entering the line or leaving. Rude people generally just try to crawl over me.

From now on, why not just bring water with you into line as you all enter together? Simple.
Kids eating melting Popsicles in a line queue just seems like a sticky mess to me. :scared:
Yea I'm going to have to agree with this. Queues are really close quarters, and I would be pretty irritated if a child bumped into me with a popsicle while I was waiting in line. But, for those who don't see an issue with line cutting, my guess is they would not see this as an issue either. Your child will not die if they have to wait half an hour for a snack, and if they start whining about it you shouldn't be rewarding them with a treat anyway.

lol now you're judging where my kids eat their popsicles?

Believe me, I am the most anal person about sticky fingers. And their popsicles won't touch you, I promise.

Not judging where kids eat x, y, and z... But I'd sure rather have kids have their snacks in line, and get me sticky, than line cutters. Kids will be kids. And as a full time nanny, sometimes you'd rather calm kids than cranky kids ;)

However adults that act like kids is what gets to me. Line cutters.

I'm An adult & I am a total kid when I'm @ WDW...:teeth:

Just a lil different than what you were thinking...:rolleyes1

And their popsicles won't touch you, I promise.

But let's say they do. It's close quarters and someone pushes into them and they get pushed into me and now I've go popsicle all over my shirt. What re you going to do about it? Are you to say "Sorry" and be done? Are you going to buy me a new shirt when we get off the ride so I don't have to wear the one your kid got popsicle on for the rest of the day? Are you going to make up the time I spend washing it out of my shirt? If I express frustration at the event after you "sorry" are you going to hit me with "lighten up, man. It's Disney, there are kids here."?

In all of those circumstances, the decision you made to bring sticky, messy treats into a crowded line have me suffering the consequences of that decision. No one ever expects accidents to happen. No one ever thinks their kid will inconvenience someone else. But the complaint is that if you choose to do things that have a reasonable expectation of negatively affecting someone else, maybe you ought to rethink the decision.

So you're ok with the single person in front of you suddenly being joined by 20 of their closest friends after you waited for an hour and those 20 friends walk up to the front of the line after they enjoyed that hour on other rides, having snacks, etc?
20 no but the rest of my family yes. DefiniteLy. (3)

I don't abuse this but I don't think it's an issue really at Disney! It's my happy place. Every line I have ever been in families have gone in front of me to join their wife or husband and I have never once been bothered! This is a family friendly park where families go in different directions at all times of the day. We understand each other. I would never do it for every ride, and there are four of us only but I would not feel bad if it happened once a day or if anyone did it to me. I'm happy at Disney. I get it.

1 or 2 adults or an adult with small children (that aren't old enough to wait two hours to go to the restroom and such) isn't a big deal. If its multiple people I'll block em. Had a group think they could barrel past me in a line a couple weeks ago. Then they thought I gave a crap they take tried to stare me down. LOL I told him to go ahead and keep looking all he wants.

I have a coworker who has told me several times about how, when taking a large group of kids to disney ( think ball team), they figured out how to avoid the lines. One parent and child would go get in line while everyone else rode another ride, to hold the space for the whole group. As soon As the group caught up, they would send a different parent and 1 kid to hold a place for the whole team in another line.

Drives me crazy.
